Misleading listing, poor hygiene, inadequate facilities, and an unprofessional host
This was by far the worst accommodation experience we have ever had.
We arrived after an 8-hour drive with 4 adults and 3 children. As soon as we entered the house, we were hit by a strong musty smell that resembled mold. There were reed diffusers placed throughout the house, which gave the impression that the odor was being masked rather than addressed. Black mold was visible on the terrace and balcony.
The house was full of insects. We found dead insects on window sills and in corners, ants throughout the house, flying ants gathering in one corner, as well as spiders and other crawling insects. This made the property feel unhygienic and unsuitable for a family stay.
The property was advertised for 7 guests, but the dining table had only 4 chairs. The kitchen was poorly equipped: the largest pot was only suitable for about 4 people, there was no colander, no dish drying rack, no kitchen towels, and no dishwasher tablets. There was even a note asking guests to wash cookware by hand, but no practical way to dry it afterwards.
The furniture was old, worn, and in much worse condition than shown in the listing photos. The photos on Booking.com did not accurately reflect the actual condition of the property.
When we called the host to discuss these issues, he became rude and aggressive instead of trying to help. He repeatedly interrupted us, called me "low income," and even used the F-word during the conversation. The call was on speakerphone, so my wife and our travel companions heard everything. Our children became frightened and did not even want to go to the bathroom alone afterwards.
We immediately contacted Booking.com and spent several hours on the phone until after midnight trying to find a solution. We submitted numerous photos documenting the condition of the property. This accommodation was not suitable for the price charged, and we would never stay here again.
