This lovely hotel welcomes you with an open door and pretty flowers blooming on the walkway. Unfortunately we were greeted by a sign saying the desk person would be back shortly- which turned out to be about 20 minutes. Sigh. I get it, they need a break when they are the only one working.
Once Miranda checked us in, the Hotel Sylvia welcomed us. This is a delightful spot. As a literary hotel with books everywhere as well as chairs to cozy up in with your book. They also have wine, beer, and cider to enjoy while reading.
The hotel rooms all have a theme like Jane Austen and Ernest Hemingway, ours was Romance with an ocean view. The whole hotel has been renovated and it’s beautiful. My one critique is that we paid for an ocean view but the windows were so dirty with sea spray that we couldn’t see the ocean! I get it, but is something to address.
We had a beautiful breakfast at Cafe Sylvia. Our waitress was delightful as she flitted around the room with confidence making sure everyone had coffee and jam!
The best moment came from sitting on the terrace on the couch watching the sunset with a glass of cider with a blanket and a fire going!
I couldn’t recommend the Hotel Sylvia more for a lovely stay in Newport! 📚

Amazing place to stay if you are looking for a quiet location to get away. We had an amazing time! The staff was amazing, Alex was the best! Morning lattes for free and beach views that go on forever. When it was super hot in the Midwest, it was nice and cool here. Highly recommend!

Beautiful accommodations with fantastic staff, amenities, and atmosphere. Breakfast was wonderful. We can’t wait to return!
