Wouldn't recommend
Lots of space for a larger family.
In walking distance of Matlock Bath.
Description says that there is parking on site but this is not accurate. As someone who struggles to walk, on site parking was one of the main reasons for choosing this property. We had to cross the very busy A6 road to reach the allocated parking space. Also, very difficult unloading the car. Should not be advertising this as having parking on site.
Lovely old house, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. As we arrived we could see that the bins at the front of the house were overflowing. Inside had cobwebs across ceilings and lights - in most of the rooms. Kitchen table looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. The cooker sits in a recess in an alcove which hasn't had a dusting for months, if not years. In places the dust was an inch thick. This is nothing which regular housekeeping would not rectify.
One bedroom has a wood burner in it, unlike the photos on the website, this had a notice on it that it wasn't to be used and was for decorative purposes only. One of the living rooms had Roman blinds which would not close, the second living room had wooden blinds which were too short - both of which look onto the main road.
Bathroom doors had no locks on them, which I believe is a basic requirement. First day there, one of the bulbs in the main bedroom came apart and landed on the bed - it had obviously been glued on but had come unstuck by the heat. A cupboard in this room was wobbly and seemed to have a leg missing.
I understand that the house is situated by a river and trees etc. but the number of Harlequin ladybirds inside the house was unbelievable. At one point we counted more than 30 on the ceilings on the top floors.
For the price paid, I expected better.
