About this house rental
meters above sea level, stands La casa dell’Alfiere, so named because the
eldest sons of the Gabrielli family had served as standard-bearers for the Malaspina family.
Built in the 1300s, with stone stairs and original terracotta flooring, it consists of a dining room
with a kitchenette, a master bedroom, a bathroom, and a small terrace from which
you can enjoy a breathtaking view.
From the house’s parking lot, you can set out on wonderful hikes along the
CAI trails, which are also part of the Volto Santo pilgrimage route. About 5 km away is the village of Licciana Nardi, where you’ll find a restaurant, a few bars, and some small shops. Heading down to Aulla, a town of about 10,000
residents, about 10 km away, you’ll find many shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and pizzerias, as well as the
train station—which is very convenient for reaching the Cinque Terre, Lucca, Genoa, or
Florence—all about two hours away.
The Lunigiana region is also dotted with interesting medieval villages and castles, some of which can be visited, all within a radius of about 25 km. From late spring through September,
there are festivals and fairs where you can spend your evenings enjoying good food and good cheer—food that reaches
excellence in the many restaurants just waiting to be discovered.
