It was the worst accommodation that I had in Sydney.
I did not end up staying at this property on the night of 18 February 2026 because it was already occupied when I arrived. It was extremely disappointing to discover that although the property had apparently been booked via Airbnb from February 26 to early March 26, it was still listed as available on Booking.com.
I arrived at around 10:00 pm and found that the key was not in the collection box. I repeatedly called the two contact numbers provided in the confirmation email, but neither was answered. After waiting for about half an hour, I had no choice but to ask the person who was already staying there for help. He contacted his employer (who had booked the property for him), and they eventually reached the landlord.
The landlord arrived around 11:00 pm and offered two alternative options: a granny flat in the backyard of her house or a guest room inside her home. With no other options available at that hour, I had to stay in the guest room.
While I am grateful that I was not left without shelter for the night, the experience was extremely uncomfortable. Staying in a stranger’s home was unsettling, and I was unable to sleep properly. I woke up the next morning with a severe headache.
Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. I paid $240.38 for a private accommodation but did not receive what I had booked.
