Not what I expected

The property is in a decent location and is close to everything. There was ac, WiFi, and Netflix. 24/7 security is an added bonus

I am writing to express my disappointment with our stay at Charmant Appartement 2 Chambres au Centre de Gueliz on June 23,2026. O n our scheduled date of arrival, we arrived after the advertised 4:00 PM check-in time, yet the apartment had not been prepared. The housekeeper was only beginning to clean the apartment when we arrived. This forced us to wait before we could settle in. The lady apologized for the delay in having things completed and gave us a few bottles of water. She offered to put on some tea, but we declined (just wanting her to get done). I really wanted to leave while she completed her cleaning, but we could not go anywhere with our luggage. I did not feel comfortable leaving my belongings in the apartment with someone I was not familiar with. What was even more concerning, after completing the cleaning the housekeeper asked us to pay her €50. I knew I was supposed to pay a Tourism tax, but this was only supposed to be €2.50 per person. Since it was three of us for one night this was only €7.50 (far from €50). I never mentioned to the woman that I speak, read, and understand some French. So, I gave her the €7.50 for the tax and told this was all I was paying. She then asked for a tip. I again stated, in English, that this was all I was paying. The request was unexpected, inappropriate, and made us feel as though we were being taken advance of. The bathroom smelled of moldy, standing water or cat litter. The sheets looked unclean and there were strands of hair all over the beds. The comforters smelled of body odor and appeared that they had not been washed since the last guest. Given the fact that the lady was still cleaning the apartment when we arrived, I should have known things were still undone.
