Beautiful mountain views from a cozy chalet!
House of Sun has great mountain views and makes you feel like you've escaped the crowds of Kotor. The host was very responsive and accommodating, providing fruit, water, and wine for our arrival. We never saw him/her, but it was clear they were staying near by as we got a WhatsApp DM telling us cows had come in through our gate (this was actually one of the highlights of our trip, having them graze 3 feet from us).
The house faces the best views - many of the other houses in the area face all different directions, so this is actually a selling point. It was nice to sit in the chairs outside to eat breakfast in the morning or have a glass of wine in the evening. The bed was comfortable. The floors are heated, which was a pleasant surprise. The shower had great water pressure and was enclosed, albeit small. They have a hot tub (an inflatable poor man's hot tub, but it was surprisingly still very similar to the real thing) - we used it each night with a glass of wine and watched the sun set. The WiFi was very good though we unplugged it by accident (could have used more outlets in the upstairs bedroom) and there are two identically named network IDs (use the one with the capital K). We were able to stream NetFlix as well one night when we decided to watch a movie.
There is an odd, "higgledy-piggledly" feeling to the area surrounding House of Sun - pockets with lots of houses facing different directions and then some where houses were well-spaced out, and then barren spots. We couldn't really figure it out. It seemed like there was a lot of expansion going on when we were there (September, 2026) - in the area immediately surrounding the house, there were 5-6 houses being built. If those had been occupied, I imagine our stay would have been very different - for one, there would have been less privacy for our nightly hot tub excursions and it might have had tougher parking (I imagine they will address this once those other houses are complete). We saw workers (and they saw us) most of the time we were outside during the day.
Both bedrooms are upstairs (narrow, steep, no railing) - since there were only two of us, we opted to leave all of our luggage open in the downstairs living room. The bathroom is downstairs, which means any night-time bio break is preceded by a decision of how badly it is needed followed by a half-asleep, hands on the walls, hope-you-don't-bite-it excursion down the steps to answer nature's call. We are still young enough to navigate these steps, but alcohol and/or sleepiness can make it less than desirable.
There is a laundry list of items I DM'd the host about as he said they were brand new and wanted my honest feedback. I'm not going to list them all here as I expect he will take care of them, but I will say broadly that he could have had more basics on hand (food items, towels for hot tub) and more instructions for how to use various appliances (I am not handy/savvy with coffee/laundry/etc, but I don't think I was the first to ask him how to use these things).
