About this apartment rental
Simply yet tastefully decorated, the apartment retains the old-world charm of a traditional countryside home typical of the Italian Riviera, combined with modern comforts. The 40-square-meter apartment consists of a fully equipped kitchen—with a microwave, refrigerator, stove with oven, washing machine, kettle, and toaster—one open-plan living room/bedroom with a double bed and a dining table, a small room with two bunk beds, and a small bathroom—with a shower and a toilet equipped with a spray hose. Please note that there is no door separating the two rooms, so the space may be better suited for a family or couples. Free Wi-Fi available.
Private parking is available on the property. Additionally, the house is accessible by public transportation (the bus stop is right in front of the house, with about 8–10 bus routes passing by each day during the summer).
The nearest town is the charming village of Moneglia (a 10-minute drive), a traditional, colorful Ligurian village with narrow alleys (called carrugi) where you can relax on the beach and find all the services you might need (supermarkets, shops, coffee shops, and restaurants). Alternatively, the larger town of Sestri Levante can be reached via the Aurelia mountain road and is approximately a 20-minute drive away.
Casa Luigia is an excellent yet quiet off-the-beaten-path accommodation that guests can use as a base to explore the much more touristy and bustling attractions of the Italian Riviera, including the world-famous Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita/Portofino, and Camogli/San Fruttuoso.
All these locations can be reached by car, train, or boat from Moneglia and Sestri Levante.
For hiking enthusiasts, there are numerous marked trails in the surrounding area, some in the nearby Bracco Mountains (just a 5-minute drive away) and others leading down toward the sea through traditional, picturesque, and colorful villages. One of these trails begins in the old village of Tessi and leads to Comeglio or San Saturnino, then continues down to Moneglia. Ask for hiking maps at Pro Loco in Moneglia.
The nearest restaurants are Trattoria Pagliettini in Comeglio (a 5-minute drive) and L’Uliveto in Camposoprano (a 10-minute drive), both serving excellent traditional Ligurian dishes.
Additionally, you can purchase homemade traditional pasta (pansotti, ravioli, tortellini, and gnocchi) with homemade sauces (pesto, ragù, and walnut sauce) from a local producer in the village of Tessi.
PLEASE NOTE: From March 1 through October 31, Moneglia charges a tourist tax of 1 EURO per person per night (up to a maximum of 7 consecutive nights). Children under the age of fourteen are exempt. The host will collect the tourist tax upon your arrival.
