Fab apartment, great location and super host.

Fully appointed with everything you need - clean, neat and tidy. Great location for walking across the city in every direction; much more fun and close to West Village and lower east side where it’s all happening and close to main tube lines to easily get up midtown/upper sides and into Williamsburg/Brooklyn. Area full of little boutiques etc. Felt completely safe as a single female traveller walking back very late and flat very secure.

Slightly more bijou than photos show but worked well if you’re planning to be out all the time!

Multiple property issues compounded by an unacceptable response when we were left without a hot shower

The East Village location was convenient for exploring New York. The station was close-by. The neighbouring street is closed on a Sunday for the local restaurants to set their tables outside - you see this alot in NY.

I would not stay here again. There were multiple issues, but the handling of the loss of hot water was unacceptable. The day before arrival, the host informed us that the address shown on Booking.com was incorrect and provided a different address. We were travelling internationally and fortunately saw the message. Guests should be able to rely on the address attached to their confirmed booking. Check-in was self-service from 4pm, yet we were required to provide a two-hour arrival window despite nobody meeting us. This created unnecessary pressure when we had arrived earlier and planned to explore New York before returning to the apartment. Access is difficult. The initial step is exceptionally high, followed by steep steps that became very slippery in heavy rain. Anyone with mobility difficulties, young children or heavy luggage should be aware of this. The apartment is extremely compact. We struggled for space with two people and I would not recommend it for more than two. The bathroom door obstructs the route towards the bedroom when open, the passageway is very narrow, and opening the sofa bed would leave very limited usable floor space. There were also several maintenance and cleanliness issues: visible mould in the bathroom and above the curtain rail, a broken bathroom tap, missing bathroom light bulbs, a lounge rug matted with hair, and a lounge window covering that could not be properly closed despite properties directly opposite. The most serious issue was the hot water. On Sunday there was no hot water in the shower. We gave it much of the day to resolve before reporting it. It then took more than two hours to receive a response. We explained that we had a 5:30am business start the following morning. Rather than sending someone to investigate, the hosts asked us to troubleshoot and wait. We explained that the shower had already been without hot water since the morning. Nobody was sent that evening. The following morning there was still no hot water.

Would not come again.

The only real positive aspect is the pleasant neighborhood in which the apartment is located.

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but unfortunately, I simply cannot let this one go. I honestly don’t even know where to begin. The hygiene standards of the accommodation were significantly below average. The bathroom was dirty, with hair left behind by previous guests. There was mold on the ceiling and on the shower curtain, most likely also due to the loose shower head, which sprayed water all over the bathroom. The absolute worst part, however, was discovering a COCKROACH while I was taking a shower. As someone with a phobia of insects, this was an extremely distressing experience that significantly affected my entire stay. Both the owner and Booking.com were informed about the situation. The following day, a maintenance person came and sprayed the apartment with insecticide. Unfortunately, the accommodation refused to provide the compensation offered by Booking.com. Another major issue was the bedroom window, which was covered and could not be opened, leaving virtually no possibility of natural ventilation. An air-conditioning unit was installed in the open part of the window, and it was so extremely loud that it was impossible to sleep, even with earplugs. My friend, who slept on the sofa in the living room, experienced a similar problem. The apartment door is located directly behind the building’s entrance door, so every movement and every footstep in the hallway could be heard. To briefly mention a few other issues, the kitchen sink faucet was broken, although the maintenance person repaired it the following day. I sincerely hope the owner will take this feedback into consideration and make an effort to bring the quality of the accommodation in line with the price being charged. At this point, in my opinion, the price is nowhere near justified by the quality of the service and the overall condition of the accommodation.

Classif single bedroom efficiency

This is a classic efficiency one bedroom located in a fun neighborhood. It had exactly what was needed for a weeklong stay for 1 or 2 people.

The laundry is iffy and the dryer takes forever. The kitchen setup is quite small but it works.

The location is absolutely unbeatable, in the heart of the east village. There isn’t anything else like it available online as no hotels in the area. Obviously the place is small as it’s Manhattan but it would be perfect for a couple. Access is super easy and being on the first floor and at the entrance is a bonus

Nothing, being in the east village you have to accept that you are paying a premium but that’s OK
