Very disappointing stay. Numerous cleanliness, hygiene and maintenance issues made the property unsuitable for the stand

The property had enough bedrooms to accommodate our group, and the location was suitable for our stay although the area the cottage was in felt quite dangerous at times. Unfortunately, the condition and cleanliness of the property overshadowed these positives.

Unfortunately, the property was very disappointing and fell well below the standard we expected for the price paid. There were numerous cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance and safety concerns throughout the house. The kitchen was particularly concerning, with dirty plates and cutlery that smelled unpleasant and had to be washed before use, a dirty and broken kettle, and an integrated fridge that tipped forward when opened. The dining table was sticky, and there was visible dirt and food residue on surfaces and walls. The upstairs shower was excessively hot and unusable, while the first-floor bathroom had mould and a strong stale urine smell. There was also dust, dirty windows, moss around the windows and superglue left out within a property occupied by young children. We raised our concerns with the host and Booking.com and provided photographic evidence. We were disappointed with the response and the time taken to address our concerns. Unfortunately, the host never properly responded to our concerns or offered a satisfactory resolution. We felt completely let down and that, once our money had been paid, there was little care or concern for our experience as guests. The customer service was extremely disappointing. We also contacted the host about a dress accidentally left behind, but it took several days and follow-up messages to receive a response, and the item has not been located. Only to be told that the cleaners had not found it. This added to our overall disappointment with the communication and service. Overall, the property was not maintained or cleaned to an acceptable standard, and we would not choose to stay here again. For the amount we paid, we expected a clean, safe and well-maintained property, along with a reasonable level of customer care when problems were reported. Unfortunately, neither the condition of the property nor the handling of our concerns met our expectations. For the £685.

Great base to explore Ilfracombe and beyond

Nicely decorated Bedding and towels fresh and clean Great space for our large group Kitchen well equipped Good dining area Great to have a dishwasher We didn't use the washing machine and dryer but great facilities to have

Litter in entrance on arrival Power was off on our arrival and so this needed to be sorted. Fridge and freezer were off Heating and hot water were not working. This was quickly sorted by a man coming out to look at this. Thank you! Bathroom shower curtain smelt badly No bulb in bedside light Jacuzzi bath did not work properly despite us filling it over the holes. It sprayed the walls and so we couldn't use the jacuzzi function. Parking space is very small and our car scraped underneath due to the camber. One car needed to be parked a 5 min walk away which made loading and unloading on the double yellows and 3 children difficult sometimes.
