Loved the place - central, quirky, historic, really nice and good value. The room would benefit from another bedside light - it was rather dark, but not a real problem.

Breakfast was very good and very substantial. The bar area and restaurant were very pleasant, as was the room, and the building itself is characterful.
While housekeeping generally did a good job, for two days running, I didn't have any tea bags in my room
TV in the room was a bit old so I had to use my laptop for Netflix.

This is a fine former coaching inn. It boasts an excellent location, central in town for my weekend in Wantage. It is handy for exploring the town and situated right by the bus stop, a bonus as I was travelling by public transport. It has a first rate choice of breakfasts and the Full English was very good. The staff were friendly and approachable. The Arkells beer served in the bar was first rate and possibly the best ale I drank all weekend !
The decor of guest rooms and the corridors leading to them is now rather jaded and in need of an update.

food excellent staff super nice beer and bar area
the room was poor apparently its due for an upgrade so in my opinion should not have been used the shower tray flooded over nearly as the drain was blocked .The TV Remote did not work the shower its self was very grimy as was the room generally the room was very hot and stuffy plus there was a constant hum from some sort of appliance
