A Trip Ruined by Unacceptable Disturbances
We stayed for one week, from May 1st to May 8th, 2026.
The apartment is comfortable, spacious, and clean — no issues there.
Pedestrian Access to the center of San Remo / beach could be challenging for Young children or ederly people
- The walk to the beach and the center of San Remo is **physically demanding, with a shortcut involving many stairs - The return trip could be especially exhausting .
- The road is dangerous for pedestrians : no sidewalks in some areas and cars driving fast.
Major Noise Disturbances: Apartment Unusable
On the Wednesday before our departure the next friday friday an ear‑splitting jackhammer‑type noise made the apartment uninhabitable from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After checking, we discovered two simultaneous construction sites:
- Major work on the swimming pool of the property ( we found out afteraward that it is open only from the 15 06 to the 15 09 )
- Major work in the apartment above ours
As a result, we were unable to use the rental for two days from 9 am to 5 pm : very relaxing and exactly what you expect on holidays
Poor Management and Derisory Compensation
I reported the issue to the owner’s representative, who claimed he was unaware of the works… even though every other residents in the building, I spoke with, knew a long time ago about them
After several exchanges, we received a “generous” refund of…€48 out of €623 €( + taxe) , which is completely unacceptable given the stress and the duration of the disturbance : 2 days tp stay out of the flat from 9 am to 5 pm
For the record, the apartment was then blocked from rental until May 14 — which confirms the scale of the works.
Booking Customer Service: Completely Useless
Booking’s customer service was no help at all: the property doesn’t respond to their requests, their only advice was to contact the host directly or leave a review which I'm doing...
In short: Booking took its commission, and you’re left to deal with the rest.
Conclusion
A seemingly pleasant apartm
