A disaster wrapped in a fiasco

Despite a disastrous stay, I will admit that the apartment was clean and suitable. The location was safe.

This day was an absolute disaster and the fiasco. We arrived on time for check-in and we’re told that we had to pay $50 per adult for a registration fee. Even though Booking.com clearly said in their confirmation email that we were not to have to pay additional fees on arrival, Booking.com stood behind the host, saying that we had to pay it because it was in their listing. I sat there looking for the specific place where it mentions an additional fee and could not find it. Eventually, I saw it hidden in one of their photos. Be very cautious they will charge you more fees, and they will try to be slick about it. I had no other options since I was already in Miami so I ended up paying the fee anyway. The troubles didn’t end there. I was told that the apartment was open and the key would be inside, it was not. I asked the host about the key and she insisted that it was either in the bedroom or on top of the kitchen counter. When I told her it was neither place she told me to check the drawers. He would think that someone would actually have a specific place where they would put the key, but they did not. I told the host that I would have to take my family to dinner and Wood return, by 730 or 8:00 PM I contacted them to ask about the keys, I was told that no one was available at that time to continue to help me and I would have to wait until the morning for a key. Again, I had no choice but to wait. We went into our apartment with no access to the garage got stuck in the elevator. Had to love all of our luggage upstairs with no trolley and lock ourselves in the apartment to wait until morning for a key. The Handyman didn’t arrive until 11 AM at which point he told us he would need some time to make new keys. He didn’t return until three hours later at about 3 PM, the day was lost we were stuck in our apartment for two days at this point without the ability to enjoy the city. We were only given one copy of the keys.
