Cancelled Lastminute.com

Before my stay the host contacted me to say I had had booked an apartment but as I had not put the number of guests I needed to pay more - 10%. I paid as I did not want to cancel the booking. Then I read a recent review to say the property cancelled 10 minutes before check in - I was woo was travelling over 6 hours with kids to get there, I contacted the host they sent me check in instructions via WhatsApp but I was relieved I had them, although you need to collect the key from a different location to the property. Then I was 10 minutes away from arriving the host contacted booking.com to say they can’t accommodate me, I was livid, I was travelling with kids and my dad and we were at that point stuck with nowhere to stay. The host did contact booking.com and did return the additional money I had paid for the stay but I don’t think this is anything over and above what you should expect. They did apologise the next day but it was no help to me, I needed more notice but I was even more livid with myself because I read the review the day before and had such a bad feeling I even contacted booking . Com. I still had to book another property, pay out double what this property cost whilst waiting 14 days for my money to be refunded, I did not budget for that and even though I was able to do it, it did mean, I did not have the funds available to take the kids out whilst in Aberdeen and I had paid for the original booking over a month ago so I feel I need to be transparent as I would not wish this scenario on anyone, I was thundering and lightning and I was on the phone in the car to booking . com for over an hour.

Always communicate through Booking.Com and follow their guidance re communication and ID.

Booking cancelled by the property for an unknown reason at 6 hours notice.

Communication with the property through Booking.com site was slow or non existent. We were eventually asked to What’s app photo ID prior to check in before we could be given the check in information. The WhatsApp number we were asked to use was not the one associated with the Booking . Com site. This is against all guidelines given by Booking.com. When Booking.com attempted to contact the host to clarify the position they were unable to make contact so the booking was voided. The rules of the property did not mention that photo ID was required prior to receiving check in information.

This was a wonderful stay and I would recommend it to anyone

The property was well situated for graduation as it was only a short walk to the university campus. The property was also very clean, came with 2 large bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and a living room with a large tv. The host was amazing and helped when checking in and checking out.

Wouldn’t bother wasting your money

Nothing

Didn’t get check in details until we turned up at the property, owner was going to cancel 5 minutes before check in time. They ‘upgraded’ us to a different apartment further away from our venue that we travelled 3 hours for. Very unclean, hair on the toilet seats, toilet seat fell off, grease in the kitchen, crumbs all over the floor, curtain pole falling off, showers and sinks not cleaned.
