Disappointed
The location and size of the home are great - neighborhood is quiet and the views are nice. The home has a lot of windows and allows for natural light to come in on the top floor. The laundry room has a nice size washer and dryer. Tahoe City is a great place to stay - less touristy and less crowded than other parts of Tahoe.
We were surprised to find the home was for sale when we arrived - and that the owners had boxes of their belongings in the garage and some of their personal items were still in the bathroom. They have also cleared out the house haphazardly - and replaced whatever was there with cheap dishes, silverware, bowls, etc. One roll of paper towels was provided. There is an espresso machine - that didn't work. There is a grill, but not tools, no matches or lighter in the house and no tools provided to clean the grill. Dishsoap had water added to it to make it look like a full bottle. There were holes in the screens, loose faucets, gas cooktop downdraft exhaust fan didn't work. The smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night and continued to go off indicating the batteries needed to be replaced. The bedroom linens and pillows are old, the throw blankets are smelly and some dirty. There is a pool table in a space that is too small, the cues are very old with no tips. Some of the windows don't operate or won't close. The house is not in a condition to be rented - it was cleared out quickly and on a whim and replaced with bare essentials - not the caliber of what the property is meant to be and what we paid. Deferred maintenance and loose ends prevent it from being worthy of a rental.
