Breakfast was amazing! Kaoru, our hostess, created a customized vegetarian feast (at our request) that was different on each day of our stay. It was an edible lesson in Japanese cuisine, and a real treat! The location of Tomo's Café is only a few minutes walking distance from the train station, making it ideal as a hub for trips to sites like Matsumoto Castle and the Japanese Alps. We also enjoyed Okaya itself, which offers walking trails around Lake Suwa and even a view of Mt Fuji. Accommodations were very comfortable, including a second floor sleeping and living area complete with private shower and toilet, and access to the Cafe's full kitchen facilities on the first floor.

First of all, the host was the most kind and lovable person you could encounter. We also had lovely conversations as well as received lots of help from her with some of the challenges we had. Secondly, the food made by the same host was delicious. Of course, the room was very spacious by all standards not just japanese. Spotlessly clean and very well decorated. We had a great sleep and rest. Lovely stay that definitely deserves a revisit.

Nothing. Everything was great and we are grateful.
