Take your time and stroll through the little village of Lauterbach. Enjoy the beauty of the village with its maritime charm and all its picturesque thatched-roof houses, as well as small cafés and restaurants.
Nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy in Lauterbach. The surrounding area, with its many biking and hiking trails, invites you to explore the stunning landscape of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.
The area’s beautiful, quiet, and mostly unspoiled beaches also promise an unforgettable vacation by the sea.
Train traffic behind the building
During the summer months (late May through late October), the “Rasende Roland”—Rügen’s well-known and popular narrow-gauge railway with steam locomotives—passes by behind the last building. Operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with trains running every two hours, so you can only enjoy the magnificent sight from time to time.
In addition, the commuter train runs every hour between Lauterbach and Bergen, daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, this train passes by much more quietly, as it is a modern railway.
