About this apartment rental

Welcome!

Florence Walled Garden is a 150-square-meter quiet retreat on the top floors of a 14th-century palace. This is the home where my daughters were born: a true sanctuary away from the chaos, yet just steps from the historic center. From the 180-square-meter private garden, you’ll enjoy a unique view of Torre San Niccolò, protected by the walls fortified by Michelangelo in 1528. On the facade, the “pietrino” of the Arte di Calimala still bears witness to the noble origins of this residence.

The apartment, measuring 150 square meters and spread over two levels, offers bright spaces and high-end finishes:

First Floor:

Silk Suite: air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed (200x200), adorned with original Ferragamo scarves and featuring an en-suite bathroom.

Living Room: a large lounge featuring 1970s Cassina sofas and a Focus fireplace. The Carrara marble kitchen, equipped with a Gaggenau oven, opens directly onto the garden.

Entrance Lounge: a welcoming entryway with a 178x208 cm designer sofa bed (Lago) and a guest bathroom.

Upper Floor: Stone Suite: an open-concept, air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed (200x180 cm), walk-in closets, and a private bathroom.

Mezzanine: a reading nook overlooking the living room, complete with art books and a remote work station.

The Garden (180mq): a private oasis on two levels at the foot of the historic walls. The lower level features a jasmine-covered “bersò,” a Weber grill, and laundry facilities. The upper level offers sun loungers for relaxation in the shade of a century-old walnut tree. Right here, among the walls and trees, lies a historical curiosity from World War II that I’ll be happy to share with you upon your arrival.

Guests will have exclusive use of the apartment and garden (with the exception of small technical spaces reserved for personal storage). As in all authentic historic Florentine buildings, there is no elevator: reaching the apartment requires climbing 57 steps. The path is not continuous, however: the staircase is punctuated by wide landings that allow for a comfortable pause, and the steps are not excessively steep. It’s a bit of light exercise that is amply rewarded by the natural light and the unique atmosphere of the location. Once inside, the home unfolds across multiple levels connected by stairs, ensuring absolute silence and privacy.

I’m at your complete disposal.

See you in front of the house at Via di San Niccolò 23.

Thank you!

Tom was the best host. Always available when needed, helpful with suggestions and a very nice person. Loved the space. Well-appointed and clean. The backyard was great, especially to relax in the evening with a glass of wine. Between Tom as our host and the ability to have a back yard, it made our visit feel like we lived in Florence for a few magical days.

Our stay at the walled garden apartment was excellent! The apartment was beautiful and in a fantastic location. The garden outside was rare and a great place to hang out in the morning or late evenings. The apartment is a short walk to everything but just outside the crowded tourists areas. The owner Tomasso was the best host we have ever experienced and we travel extensively. He has fantastic communication throughout the process and acts as a concierge with recommendations on everything you need. He booked us restaurant reservations just in case we needed them and we are so thankful he did! He worked at ferragamo and even supplied free tickets to their exhibit. We can't say enough great things about him and his apartment and fortunate we happened to find him. We look forward to coming back to Florence and we will definitely stay there again.

Just the BEST!! Our host Tom took such wonderful care of us- made sure we ate at the best restaurants & did all we had time for during our 3 day stay (way too short to do it all!) The home was so comfortable for our family of 5 - parents & 20 year old kids. Such a treat to relax in the garden after lots of walking. Oh the jasmine in bloom & smelled so good. Stay here if you want a great authentic Florentine experience - fabulous host, home & neighborhood. A wonderful escape from the tourist crowds. Stay here & make happy memories to take home!
