About this house rental

Summary:

Welcome to Trinder Retreat, where vineyard views meet barefoot luxury in the heart of Margaret River. Tucked beside the iconic Cape Mentelle estate, this peaceful haven invites you to slow down, soak in outdoor baths amongst nature, share long lunches under the alfresco canopy, and cosy up by the fire with a glass of local red. With a games room, lush gardens, and elegant indoor-outdoor living, it's your dream escape—just five minutes from town and moments from world-class wineries and beaches.

The Space:

Tucked away at the end of a tree-lined drive, Trinder Retreat is a serene haven designed for families and wellness seekers alike. Surrounded by native bushland, fruit trees, and sweeping vineyard views, this peaceful sanctuary offers room to breathe, reconnect, and truly unwind.

Step into the heart of the home—a bright and spacious open-plan living area with soaring timber ceilings, cosy sectional sofas, a wood-burning fireplace, and large windows inviting in the natural light. Whether it’s board games by the fire in winter or breezy indoor-outdoor living in summer, this space brings people together. The fully equipped kitchen, complete with oven, stove, dishwasher and Nespresso machine, makes preparing wholesome meals a joy. Gather around the generous dining table to reconnect over slow breakfasts or family dinners.

Outside, the covered alfresco area is a soul-soothing retreat. Sink into a hot outdoor bath with birdsong overhead, sip herbal tea or a glass of local wine at the rustic bar, and enjoy long, laughter-filled meals under the stars at the handcrafted timber table or around the fire pit. For moments of fun and play, the converted garage doubles as a games room, with table tennis, a Smart TV, beanbags, and even a few bikes for exploring the area. An outdoor shower is nearby—perfect for washing off sandy feet after beach days.

The main house is perfectly suited for families, with a downstairs king room with an ensuite, a queen bedroom, and a playful bunk room that kids will love. The main bathroom features a deep bath and walk-in shower, ideal for soaking tired feet after a day of adventures. Upstairs, the peaceful primary suite offers a king bed by a freestanding tub, an ensuite with dual vanities and walk-in robes, and a balcony looking out over the vines. The cosy, self-contained cottage features two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with two singles), a compact kitchen, a wood burner, Smart TV, and a bathroom.

Additional comforts include a dedicated laundry area with shower and toilet, free Wi-Fi, ample parking, and thoughtfully landscaped gardens with koi pond—a peaceful spot to sit, reflect, or simply watch the world go by. (Please do not feed the fish.)

A starter pack of wood is provided during the winter months only (June – August). This includes kindling, firelighters, matches, and wood. Axes are not supplied due to safety reasons. Additional wood may be purchased from a nearby fuel station or hardware store.

Guest Access:

During your stay, you and your group will have the entire house to yourselves. Please make yourselves at home!

For foodies, Margaret River’s town centre is just five minutes away, packed with artisan bakeries, gourmet delis, boutique shops and buzzing cafés.

A beautiful peaceful property with good number of rooms (including the cottage). Excellent for entertaining in the alfresco area and close to the local amenities. The games room with Table tennis table was a good place for kids to hang out. Overall, it is as advertised although there is no TV in the games room as advertised and if any bikes were available for use, they were not in any place we could find. There were a few maintenance issues during our 3 days stay. The plumbing for the washing machine did not work and the bottled gas for the whole property ran out. Both issues required a maintenance person to attend and fix. Having said that all the issues when they occurred were dealt with politely and promptly and presumably one-off issues.Enough firewood is provided for one night, for just one fire. There are two fireplaces (one in the main house and one in the cottage) and a fire pit and we stayed 3 days. In mid-winter it is a major part of the stay to be able to have a real fire. It would be nice to have more firewood available. Getting a supply when you are on holiday is difficult and it’s a major thing to bring down a supply in a car full of kids and bikes. Just a comment!

The house was perfectly located and featured an ideal layout for our group of nine family members, who gathered to celebrate a birthday in Perth before spending a week together in Margaret River. There was ample space for everyone to relax privately when needed, as well as generous communal areas where we could come together to share meals and cook in the well-equipped kitchen. Next door, an organic farm provided a lovely setting for morning strolls, along with the option to enjoy a coffee or pick up fresh produce. Each day began with a swim at Gnarabup Beach near the White Elephant Café, just a five-minute drive away. The property also offered convenient access to the many wineries throughout the Margaret River region. All of us really enjoyed a fabulous week in Margs.

The property managers were excellent to deal with, however the property was not us to scratch and the owners were less than generous in offering us a reduction in price given the condition of the house on day 1. The main bed in the main bedroom was broken and could not be slept on. The toilet seat in the ensuite bathroom was cracked and could not be sat on. The heating in the dinning, lounge and kitchen did not work. The property managers worked hard to fix these and we had tradesman on site for the first 24 hours, however we had hoped for a quiet restful first day and we did not get that.
