About this house rental

Come for the game, stay for the game room: you're about 10 minutes from Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park, and back at the house a full pool table, ping pong, and a Golden Tee arcade are waiting. The kids and the dog (yes, it's dog friendly) take over the fenced backyard while the adults pull up to the gas fire pit. Two king bedrooms, a queen, a bunk loft and 2.5 baths fill this renovated row house in Troy Hill, with off-street parking out back.

THE SPACE
Start in the backyard, because that's where this house is different. It's fully fenced, so dogs and kids can roam without a second thought, with playground mulch underfoot and a gas fire pit ringed by Adirondack chairs. Light it after dinner, pull the gas grill over, and the evening takes care of itself.

The main floor is built around one idea: everyone together, doing different things. The living room becomes a real movie room. Close the curtains, sink into the recliners, and flip on the smart TV under the glow of "The Burgh" sign. It opens straight into the game room, where the real headline of this house lives: a 3-in-1 table that goes from family dinner to a full pool table to a ping pong match without anyone leaving the room. A Golden Tee arcade machine sits in the corner, an electric fireplace keeps things warm, and the "Welcome, Yinz" neon sign leaves no doubt where you are. The kitchen is fully renovated with a center island, stainless steel appliances, a gas range, and a coffee bar with drip, Keurig, and tea, plus a breakfast nook for slower mornings. A half bath rounds out the floor.

Upstairs, two king bedrooms each come with room-darkening shades and a Roku smart TV in guest mode; one has a quiet reading nook by the window. They share a full bathroom with a bathtub and a separate standing shower, a rare combo in a Pittsburgh row house this age.

The third floor is where the kids take over: an open loft with a full-over-full bunk bed, a desk for remote work, and a play corner stocked with books and toys. Down the hall, a queen bedroom looks out across the Allegheny River, with the third-floor full bathroom right next door.

WHO IT'S BEST FOR
Game-day crews: park at the house and be at Acrisure Stadium, PNC Park, or PPG Paints Arena in under 10 minutes, then keep the rivalry going in the game room.

Family reunions and multi-generational trips: two kings, a queen, and a bunk loft sleep everyone without an air mattress, and the fenced backyard gives kids room to run while the adults take the fire pit.

Friend groups who actually want to hang out: pool table, ping pong, and arcade turn a quiet Friday into a tournament, no plans required.

Dog owners: bring up to two dogs. The fenced backyard means nobody gets left behind.

Work trips and campus visits: a third-floor desk, Verizon Fios internet, and a free washer and dryer, with Pitt and Duquesne about 10 minutes away.

LOCATION & WHAT'S NEARBY
Troy Hill sits above the Allegheny River on Pittsburgh's North Side, close to downtown but quiet enough to still feel like a neighborhood.

• De Fer Coffee & Tea (2-minute walk): coffee, tea, and baked goods.
• Scratch & Co (5-minute walk): dinner or Sunday brunch.
• St. Anthony's Chapel (about 0.2 miles): one of the largest relic collections outside the Vatican.
• Penn Brewery (under a mile): German-style beers in a historic brewery.
• Strip District (about 6 minutes): Pittsburgh's market district.
• PNC Park (about 7 minutes): Pirates baseball.
• Acrisure Stadium (about 8 minutes): Steelers and Pitt football.
• PPG Paints Arena (about 9 minutes): Penguins hockey and concerts.
• Randyland (about 2 miles): a free, wildly colorful folk art yard.
• National Aviary (about 2 miles): walk-through bird habitats.
• Children's Museum of Pittsburgh (about 2 miles): hands-on play for kids.
• The Andy Warhol Museum (about 2 miles): seven floors of Warhol.

PARKING
One vehicle fits on the off-street parking pad behind the house, up a short set of stairs from the backyard, mid-size SUV or smaller, backing in recommended. Free street parking out front easily covers a second car for bigger groups.

GETTING IN
Self check-in is by smart lock. Your 4-digit code arrives in your Vrbo messages 3 days before arrival and again 8 hours out, and works on the front, back, and basement doors. Guest ID verification is required before check-in details are sent. The entire home is yours, all three floors plus the basement laundry, except one locked owner's closet. It's a classic Pittsburgh row house: expect stairs at the entry, from the parking pad, and between floors, including steep basement stairs with a low ceiling. Handrails are on every staircase, and there's a half bath on the main floor.

GOOD TO KNOW
Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out aren't available; check-outs after 11:00 AM carry a $150 fee. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. No events or parties, and no more than 8 people on the property at any time, including visitors; unregistered guests are $100 per guest per night. The booking guest must be 25 or older and stay for the full reservation. Please don't smoke or vape inside; outside, away from the house, is fine, and smoke odor inside carries a $500-$1,000 odor-removal fee. Dogs are welcome, up to 2, at $125 per dog. No cats (allergies), and please keep pets off the furniture. Service animals are welcome; just tell us first.

Two exterior cameras, at the front and back doors, record video and audio on motion. Inside, a Minut sensor tracks noise and occupancy only and records no audio. There are no indoor cameras.

While searching for a place to stay for our family spring break vacation I found this listing among a couple others. I let the kids choose which they liked best and they picked this listing due to the gaming options and cozy beds. I wanted a property that had amenities such as central air, washer and dryer access, parking, and would be kid friendly. First, the convertible pool/ping pong/dining table worked out great. The kids loved playing on it and it allowed enough space for us to have dinner with my parents (all 6 of us). The added touch of board games, books, and a few little toys made it easy for my kids (especially our preschooler) feel at home. The added convenience of having dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and shampoos and conditioners was nice (especially if you forget your own shampoo). We were able to easily do laundry, dishes, grill dinner on the grill on the back patio, and settle in like a real home which is why I prefer vrbo to hotels on vacation (especially with children). The appliances were quality and I appreciated having an actual real coffee pot as well as a instapot for cooking dinner. The vrbo itself is in a working family neighborhood, which I appreciated. We enjoyed trying out the local fare and had a lovely time at the coffee shop 1 block away as well as dinner at a restaurant 2 blocks away. Parking was easy and the location itself is only a 10 minute drive from most things you want to visit. I definitely would stay at this location again.

Great location, very clean, good communication, not a long list of to-do chores at the end of the stay.

Host was very attentive and quick to respond. The oven could use a good cleaning. All of the linens (sheets, towels) smelled very strongly of scented detergents. Using an unscented detergent (same for dishwasher detergent) would be more appealing. Parking on the street would be nearly impossible, as it was mostly full including in front of the house. The neighborhood is not the safest. I would not feel safe there if I were a young woman alone or with only other women. A strong aroma of marijuana greeted us when we arrived along with some ferocious dog barking. There are several flights of stairs so this would likely not be a good option for those with older folks or littles. I was able to park on the back parking pad if I swung out in the intersection that is right there (in a Toyota Sienna). Overall a nice house inside just not in a good location. The upside is that it is within a short walking distance to the St. Anthony Chapel with over 5,000 relics. Amazing!! Also, avoid Rialto street, it is about a 24% grade.
