About this cabin rental

Bloomingdale Cabin is a four room single floor house with a mix of vintage furnishing locally sourced from nearby antique stores. Our front room has a large farm table that is great for enjoying a meal, playing a game or spreading out for a work retreat. The kitchen has all the basics covered with a stove-oven and mini-fridge. We also have a toaster, kettle and french press so you can take advantage of the beautiful mornings here. The bedroom has a queen bed that overlooks our barn from the 1800's. There is also sofa futon in the living room that can accommodate a child or small adult. We recently added a smart TV to the living room area. The front porch provides ample space for watching sunsets or outdoor dining when the weather allows. Our guests have access to our beautiful pool, and grill area when in season (May-Sept). These common areas are shared with us and other guests staying on the property. There is a dedicated parking pad for the cabin in the backyard across from the barn or parking available in front of the garage.

There are so many wonderful things to do nearby. For the outdoorsy adventurers, there is hiking nearby in the Shenandoah National Park and the Rapidan River is just across the street. Liberty Mills Farms is just down the road and we are 5 minutes from the Market at Grelen. For this history buffs, we are 5 minutes away from Montpelier, 15 minutes away from historic downtown Gordonsville and 45 min from Monticello. We are near several top rated wineries including: Barboursville and Keswick. 30 minutes from Charlottesville and 5 min from Orange. There is also plenty of antiquing nearby!

There are no laundry facilities available for guests at this property. There is a laundromat in the town of Orange (10 minutes away)

The cottage was very comfortable. There was the friendliest cat in the world that visited us daily. Luckily, our dog is a cat lover as the cat had absolutely no fear of dogs. The bed was comfortable. The purpose of our trip was to visit our daughter and son-in-law that live in Orange. In the past we stayed with them but I recently had knee surgery and I could not manage the steps at their apartment. Both of them stopped by the day after our arrival on their way home from work to see where we were staying. They stayed for not more than 45 min and left for home. We joined them for dinner in town and when I returned home I checked my email. Apparently the neighbor had reported to the host that they saw cars at the cottage. I explained that my daughter and her husband stopped by to see where we were staying and were not staying over. My daughter thought the cottage was cute. After that we felt a little uncomfortable about being under surveillance by the neighbor. Even though the host said it was ok for them to "stop by" , we felt uncomfortable and just spent time with them at their home. There was a small issue with ants even though we had everything sealed up. Also we had a little issue with where we needed to park but we worked that out. Overall we enjoyed our visit and the farm is really pretty.

Cozy Cabin getaway

The house was actually very clean but the front porch and the porch furniture were dirty and covered in cobwebs. Chairs and tables would need to be cleaned before anyone could sit there, which is too bad because it's an ideal spot for porch-sitting. Same is true of the gazebo which was unusable because of its condition.
