If you don’t mind walking about 15-20 minutes or so, this property is close to the popular attractions on Itsukushima Island such as the Tori gate, ropeway, beach, shopping, Daishoin Temple and the ferry terminal. The property is also very large by Japanese standards as you get the entire house to yourselves! It has a huge bathroom which is a welcome change over most hotels in Japan. Note that this property is historic and refurbished and you need to be gentle with the lovely tatami room. There are two stories to the house and the second floor is atop a pretty steep set of stairs. Would not recommend elderly use these stairs. The hostess, Rie Nakaya, is lovely and very responsive and went above and beyond to help us with dinner reservations at a local low-key place in the neighborhood only a 4 minutes walk from her place. She was also very patient as I got mixed up with the time change. Staying at her place is like having a local friend to help guide you on the island. She will give you a map of the area and tell you which restaurants are open, ask about your day and suggest where to go. We also used the coin laundry two doors away which was very convenient after hiking the Daishoin trail on a hot and humid day-so happy that was so close by and convenient!

Excellent location in the historical streets behind Miyajima’s busy shopping street. Rie is an excellent host providing good information to guests in great English too if you need it. Very accommodating by allowing us to drop our bags early and leave them after checkout before we got the ferry off the island.
A small fridge near the kitchen area accessible to guests would make it easier to make a morning tea or coffee.

Spędziliśmy w tym domku tylko jedną noc przy okazji wizyty na Miyajimie. Bardzo dobra lokalizacja, mieszkanie posiada wszystkie udogodnienia które są ważne, a przy tym można zakosztować odrobinę lokalnego klimatu tradycyjnego domu japońskiego. Przemiła gospodyni, która odpowie na każde pytanie, doradzi, poleci co robić, gdzie zjeść .

Location was great. Owner was responsive and spoke very good English. The furniture and decor is authentic traditional Japanese.
It was very cold and didn't warm up anywhere except the bedroom despite having heaters on. The.bathroom / shower room was too cold to use. There is no kitchen.
