An amazing place, not far from central Moshi, with a comfortable room and a beautiful, relaxing garden that makes you feel at home. Joseph and Jacinta were incredibly kind and helpful, and they put us in touch with a great guide to explore Materuni. The breakfast was excellent too, thanks to Joseph!
Everything was perfect.

We had a great stay at Barazani Garden House. The property is large, modern and well organised. Our room had an ensuite toilet and bathroom which vere very clean and well presented. We had a good sleep on a comfortable.mattress. It was helpful to have a washing machine. We enjoyed chilling on the large terrace and in the evening the staff lit up a fire for us and an onsite chef cooked us a delicious meal of fried bananas and meat. The area is close to town centre and is quiet and relaxed. I would recommend the property to anyone who is looking for a good value place to recharge from all the hustle and bustle of travel in Africa.
Nothing to note. Everything was great.

The property itself is beautiful, cosy, and homely, with excellent facilities. The shared living space is lovely, the rooms are comfortable, and hot water is available. In terms of the property itself, I had a very positive impression. However, my overall experience was mixed, particularly when it came to housekeeping, communication, and how comfortable I felt during my stay.
As a solo female traveller, I spent 2 out of 3 nights as the only guest in the house. While I understood that the living area was a shared space, I would have appreciated clearer communication about when and how the manager, Joseph, would be using it. His occasional, unannounced presence sometimes caught me off guard, and there were moments when I felt uncomfortable. There were also a few practical issues that could have been handled better. The bin in the common area was not emptied when full, and housekeeping was not provided. Meal arrangements were also not always as expected: the cook was unavailable at lunch and dinner times despite prior communication, so meals had to be ordered from a restaurant when requested. I understand that meals beyond breakfast may not be included in the stay, but if the accommodation advertises that a cook is available to prepare meals on request, guests should be able to reasonably expect this service to be available as communicated. Additionally, the fridge was switched off by the manager on several occasions. When I asked about it, I was told that it was unnecessary to keep it running because it was already cold. As a paying guest relying on the facilities provided, I found this concerning, particularly as I needed somewhere to store food. One interaction that stood out was when Joseph approached me quite abruptly to ask why I had switched on the light in the shared living room. I also felt uncomfortable when he expressed the opinion that I was too young to travel alone and should not be doing so. He also shared unsolicited misogynistic views and went so far as to use abusive language. The property has a lot of potential, and the facilities are genuinely lovely. However, good accommodation is about more than the physical space. Thoughtful housekeeping, clear communication, respect for guests’ privacy, and making guests feel welcome and comfortable are equally important.
