Good bones but badly maintained, dirty and noisy. Poor communication from property management.

The bed was good. The wifi was fast. The place has great bones and is in a vibrant, albeit noisy, area. But it is not as well maintained as it should be, and charged an exorbitant fee of 700 for cleaning, but the place was nowhere near as clean as it should be for that price.

* I did not receive any information prior to my stay - I was only able to get in because of the kind man at reception with my booking receipt. I only got some information (read: the entrance code to the building and not the apartment) from the property managing service after a back and forth on the third day of my stay. The service was shocking and the property manager has still not gotten in contact. I was not offered a refund for the cleaning fee, despite the list of issues. * The couch was filthy and stained. There were cockroaches in the cupboards. The dishes were not washed properly. The stove and stove handles were sticky and had old food residue on it. The kitchen drain had a strange smell that wouldn’t go away even when we used bleach. There was an old stain on the floor under the couch. The walls in the living room and bathroom were stained with old wet marks. There was also damage on the walls and burn mark on the stove wall that had not been fixed despite there being a R1000 fee for damages. * When again I had to keep following up on the cleaning issues (from day of arrival), they sent a cleaner on the Saturday - but they made this poor woman come in to do "light cleaning" at nearly 4.30pm after I had been waiting since 11 that morning (make the bed, clean the floors and the bathroom - i.e. toilet and shower) and did not inform her of any of the issues. That was incredibly disrespectful of her and my time. * There are only two of every eating utensil, except for forks of which there was only 1. Some of the cooking utensils were in very bad shape and need to be replace. * The place is exceptionally noisy, especially at night. The windows were high and unable to be closed at all, which meant the noise travelled that much more. * The shower wasn’t hot, only warm. * All the streaming services (like Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Disney, etc.) seemed to be logged out/not paid for. Apple only worked for the first three days.

Property was spacious, enjoyed how modern and minimalistic the apartment is. My husband really liked the spiral stair case.

The door handle had us a bit worried because of the way it locks, I would recommend getting a normal door handle with a lock so that it feels more safe and secure. The shower door did not close as well and the railing in the bathroom was loose including no hand-wash. There are barely cutlery and kitchen ware to use, there are no kitchen scissors as-well. Kitchen sink had a weird smell. Unfortunately there were no cloths to wipe down when tidying up. There were small roaches as-well, I would recommend getting pest control to sort that out as it crawls into the coffee maker which we did not end up using.

If you want cute ecstatics you can book, but if you want peace I wouldn’t recommend the place
