Disappointing Stay, Continuous Construction Noise & Unprofessional Host

We stayed at Domus Aviae from the 14th to the 20th of September and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. Every single day, we were woken up at 7 AM by relentless hammering and construction noise coming from next door, noise that continued throughout the entire day. When we contacted the host, he initially told us he had spoken to the workers and that the hammering would stop that same day. That turned out to be completely untrue, the construction and noise continued for the entirety of our stay. When I reached out again, hoping for a fair solution, the host responded rudely and unprofessionally, telling us that this was "city noise" and that if we wanted peace and quiet, we should have booked "in the countryside." He also claimed the issue was not his responsibility because it was coming from outside the property. However, the ongoing construction was never disclosed in the listing, which we feel is a serious omission. Even worse, when we insisted on a resolution, the host accused us of blackmail, a completely unacceptable and outrageous accusation, considering we were only seeking a reasonable solution to a major disturbance that affected the quality of our stay. As for the apartment itself: while it is spacious, the furniture is quite dated, and the bathroom has an aluminum door that makes a loud noise whenever it's opened or closed, not ideal in the middle of the night. The small terrace was dirty upon arrival, with visible dust and cigarette butts left on the table, clear signs that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. Overall, the experience did not reflect the price we paid, and the lack of transparency and professionalism from the host made matters worse. I would not recommend staying here unless you’re prepared to deal with constant noise and a host who takes no responsibility for the guest experience.
