Cosy room but the host...emotionally unstable and aggressive
The room itself is very spacious and cozy, with everything a long-term stay would need: a bedroom corner, a work desk, and a mini-living room with a TV. The property is situated in a quiet and convenient location.
The bathroom and the kitchen are old, run-down, and dirty. Wanting to live there for a few days, I had to clean them up myself.
The host. From the very beginning, the owner’s behaviour was unusual and inappropriate. After I booked the accommodation at the price listed on Booking.com, he claimed that I had underpaid and demanded additional money. When I explained that I had paid the exact amount shown on the platform, he insisted that I cancel the reservation, despite it being non-refundable. During our exchanges, he accused me of dishonesty and used offensive language. Eventually, after meeting in person, I wanted to prove that I was not lying. He admitted he had mistakenly listed the property at a lower price and allowed me to stay, provided I paid an additional 100,000 rupiah.
After a few days of staying there, the landlord arrived at the property, saw my boyfriend (who permanently lives in Ubud) visiting, and started throwing a tantrum at him, aggressively commenting on his visit and asking him to leave immediately (although the terms of the contract do not include a ban on inviting guests). Next, he accused me of deceiving him, demanded that either my boyfriend pay for accommodation or that I leave immediately. He used abusive language, intimidated us, and insisted that I should have cancelled the reservation from the start. I felt humiliated in front of my boyfriend, and this whole experience left me feeling unsafe and deeply distressed, forcing me to pack my belongings and leave the property prematurely. The host seems to be a good man, but he is emotionally unstable, controling and aggressive.
