It’s possible make it a safer experience, but the hosts need to invest more on it

The architecture and design of this guest house are truly stunning. If you are looking to be totally immersed in the jungle, this is the place to be. The structure is beautiful and captures the "Treehouse" concept perfectly, making for a very exciting and unique stay.

The "Treehouse" concept is very exciting, and the place itself is visually stunning. However, our experience was frustrating due to safety and comfort issues. We understand that insects are part of life in the jungle, but we found a lone star tick (a major vector for Brazilian spotted fever/Lyme) in our bed on the second night. Since we felt unsafe, we decided to move to another hotel. The use of dark blankets instead of white sheets makes it impossible to spot insects before going to sleep; this is an essential safety point that needs to change. The comfort also left much to be desired: Room and Light: The room was cold, the pillows were uncomfortable, and there was no mosquito net. The lack of curtains on the glass windows prevented us from blocking out the sunlight, making it impossible to sleep in the morning. Noise: The dogs barked excessively, especially in the morning, which caused a lot of discomfort. Regarding the Location: This is a significant weak point. The guest house is about a 28-minute walk from the city center; going down is fine, but the way back is extremely steep. If it rains, cars cannot climb the stone hills. Furthermore, Uber does not work in Ouro Preto. You need to use local apps that are impossible to download if you don't have a Brazilian Apple Store account. Without your own car, you are dependent on a bus that only runs every 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the difficult logistics and the safety concerns regarding insects outweighed the beauty of the place.
