The Apartment Literally Stunk

We had such high hopes for this apartment in Florence. Unfortunately, the apartment literally stunk. During our 31-day stay, there was a persistent odor coming from the plumbing that was never properly addressed by property management. We reported the issue several times, and the only intervention (after 3 weeks) was an unsuccessful, basic, 5 minute attempt, to “clean” the dishwasher which included running a cycle with cleaning powder. This did not resolve the problem. (The reason for this attempt was on a single occasion we reported that we had started the dishwasher the night before, and the entire apartment quickly filled with a foul smell.) The smell overwhelmed the apartment on most days throughout the month. At one point, management blamed city sewer issues due to a couple of rainy days. However, it only rained 2–3 days during our entire stay. In our opinion, if this is the cause, it is a known issue that should be properly fixed by a plumber, or guests should be informed prior to booking. We ended up buying multiple air fresheners and deodorizers and even covered all drains in the bathroom and kitchen with plastic. The smell still filled the apartment! Location & Noise: The apartment is in a good location, about a 10–15 minute walk to the Duomo and close to tram and bus stops. However, this comes with significant noise. There is constant traffic noise, including cars, motorcycles, horns, and emergency sirens. We had to use earplugs and noise-canceling headphones every night. Staff: Cesare, a staff member, was very kind and tried to help, but unfortunately his efforts were not enough. No one else from management came to investigate or address the more serious issues.

Apartment Cleanliness: There were large dust clumps under furniture, on the stairs, in the bathroom, and behind doors upon check-in. The coffee machine’s overflow container was full of old coffee. There were visible black spots on the bathroom walls and near the windows. In our opinion, the bathroom had clearly not been properly cleaned, with heavy residue on the sink, shower, shower doors, and shower head. The shower head either needs deep cleaning or replacement due to inconsistent water flow. The kitchen sink was also dirty and required cleaning to remove residue. We had to purchase several cleaning products ourselves because the apartment had not been properly cleaned, despite paying a €92 cleaning fee in advance. The bathroom walls also had multiple areas with cracked and un-repaired paint (photos provided). During our 31 day stay no complimentary cleanings were provided, other hosts often provide those every 7 days. Additional Issues Of the many coffee pods provided, only three were compatible with the machine. No secured bottled water or welcome amenities were provided at check-in, which is standard in many rentals. Of the three frying pans provided, we could only get one to work with the induction stovetop. The three medium-sized pots all had very loose handles. After we reported this, only one small replacement pot was provided. We had to tighten the handles ourselves to avoid safety risks. Initially, there were no potholders, kitchen towels, or garbage bags. After requesting them, we received two potholders, 15 garbage bags, and a single decorative towel for our 31-night stay. The apartment has only one TV, and it is not a smart TV. Two drying racks are provided for washed clothes, but no clothespins. Additional sheets/towels cost €24.20. In our opinion, management prioritizes cost-cutting over guest experience and provides no personalized service. We were sent a contract to sign prior to check in. We were past free cancellation.

A very pleasant stay that could have been excellent if there wasnt so much noise from the street.

The location is great, the apartment is newly furnished, very nice and with everything you need.

The noise from the street is very unpleasant, especially during the night when we could hear all cars and motorbikes. The windows to not help with reducing the noise. Also the mattress on the bed is quite rigid.

Good value for money

Roomy apartment located just 2 tramvia stops away from old city center. Equipped with all necessary stuff. One bedroom lacks privacy and the second lacks the bed size. Not a big deal for many travelers. Ideal for two.

Todo perfecto :)

La verdad que el departamento es hermoso, espacioso y súper cómodo! Solo a tener en cuenta que no hay escaleras y es en un piso 3.
