This was a wonderful start to our Iceland trip. The three separate bedrooms were perfect for our family of six, with two people in each room. We appreciated this even more later in the trip, as many of the other cottages we stayed in had only two bedrooms.
The surroundings were peaceful and open, and the house was well equipped with everything we needed. The location also seemed ideal for watching the northern lights. Unfortunately, we were still jet-lagged and didn’t stay up to look for them—our only regret! We really enjoyed our stay.
Nothing to complain about. Everything suited our family very well.

Posting this at 4 stars because of reasons. The location is perfect, we came from the highlands so its a perfect stop if you spent the whole day in the highlands or youre planning for one the next day. Dark skies everywhere and rooms are super spacious, smells nice and very well decorated.
The cons, even though everything is perfect,is that we expected somewhere super dark. We noticed in the day that the aurora that night was going to be amazing and off the charts, but when we were trying to take the pictures, theres just lights everywhere and we had to move out just to get better pictures. The house next to ours, the porch light is like a spotlight, its the other myrkholt cabin. We tried turning the lights of our cabin off but the one in the porch we didnt find a way to do it, tried to find the breakers.
We still got some good pictures and had an amazing experience, but felt a bit annoyed for something so simple.
