Terrible experience. Cancelled on check‑in day, misleading informations, avoid this property!

Nothing, terrible experience. This was a very negative and stressful experience and I strongly do NOT recommend booking this property. EDIT: (Response to the host’s answer): Do not be fooled by the host’s polite response; it is a carefully crafted damage control full of absolute lies. Let’s look at the facts and their constantly changing versions of reality. First, they claimed over the phone that the cancellation was my fault due to "lack of information," shouting at me that they have no obligation to help me with another accommodation. Only when Booking.com support intervened and pressured them, they suddenly invented a new story about a massive fire, even sending me photos in chat of firefighters and a destroyed building on a completely different street, different building. Now, in their response, they change their story for a third time, suddenly claiming it was just an internal electrical issue with "burned appliances" that I couldn't see from the outside. This is a ridiculous lie. I personally visited the building the next day, went up to the exact door of apartment number 28, and everything was completely untouched - no smoke, no smell, no ongoing repairs, and no damage whatsoever. Their claim about offering a "responsible alternative" is another manipulation. They only offered it after being forced by Booking.com, and it was a terrible apartment located an hour from the original place, completely incomparable to the location I booked. Lastly, their excuse that they couldn’t close the calendar on the platform is completely false. Every host has the immediate tools to block dates. They kept the apartment open for bookings for the following days because this is a dishonest business practice. They did not handle this situation honestly or responsibly, they left us stranded, lied to us, lied to Booking.com, and now they are lying to you, the future guests. Avoid this property if you want a safe and stress-free trip.

The host cancelled the stay on the day of check‑in at 01:14 without any proper explanation, even though everything had been confirmed in advance – including my arrival time (14:00) and detailed check‑in instructions. Naturally, I did not see this message during the night and arrived as planned. At 14:00 we found ourselves without accommodation and had to start resolving the situation urgently to avoid being left on the street. When I managed to reach the host by phone, I was told that the reservation was cancelled because “I didn’t provide enough information”, which is not true – the booking was confirmed and we had already communicated check‑in details. The host also refused to take responsibility, clearly stated that they are not obliged to help, and tried to pressure us to cancel the reservation ourselves, which is incorrect. In such cases, the host must cancel and assist with a solution. Later, the host gave a completely different explanation to Booking.com, claiming that the apartment had “burned down”. This statement is demonstrably false. The next day I personally visited the address, checked the building and located the exact apartment door – everything was completely normal, with no signs of fire or damage. I have photo evidence of this. Additionally, the apartment remained available for booking on Booking.com for the following days, which further confirms that the explanation was misleading. This kind of behavior is highly unprofessional and raises serious concerns about trustworthiness. Based on my experience, this appears to be dishonest handling of reservations. To avoid being left on the street, I had to spend several hours resolving the situation through Booking.com support and searching for alternatives myself. The whole situation resulted in a loss of time, stress and additional costs, despite the fact that the issue was not caused by me. I would strongly warn other travelers to be very careful when booking this property.
