Misrepresentation of the Property and insecurity
The house was beautiful and very clean. The swimming pool was very nice.
The accommodation did not match the description nor the photographs provided in the Booking.com listing. Given the amount paid for the property, we expected a significantly higher standard of quality, comfort, and security.
Additionally, were forced to pay a deposit and a cleaning fee in cash upon arrival as we were denied entrance to the property if those were not handed over. We did not feel safe and were worried that we would have no other place to stay.
Due to these numerous issues, which are described below and in the Customer Services chabot. I am requesting a reimbursement of the cleaning fee (480 euros) and a refund on the booking reservation.
Two out of the three showers were defective. Each time a shower was used water overflowed outside the shower tray. The bathroom floor and hallway became flooded. Guests were required to clean up significant amounts of water after every use.
The air conditioning was ineffective. Photographs of the thermostat clearly show:
- An indoor temperature of 38°C.
- The air conditioning set to 20°C.
Despite operating for several hours, the indoor temperature remained extremely high. The cooling system was clearly unable to provide acceptable living conditions.
We experience multiple power outages causing significant inconvenience. The watering system in the garden would switch on at random times of the day resulting in our belongings left outside getting drenched. It also resulted in the freezer not working for several hours and our food being unfrozen and food being thrown away.
We felt insecure due to the entrance gate not functioning correctly as it could be opened and closed manually by anyone. The large glass doors in the house had no shutters or curtains, leaving the interior fully visible from outside and we felt a lack of privacy. The threats we received upon arrival for payments in cash (deposit + an additional cleaning fee which was never disclosed or discussed upon the initial booking reservation).
