The Old Stone Trough Country Hotel

The staff were all amazing and very friendly. A great location. We went for a 1 night stay for a birthday treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend especially for the price x

Our room was a little chilly on arrival but it is October and in the middle of a storm

Lovely dining room and bar area with nice open fire. Best thing was definitely the staff who were very authentically warm, welcoming and helpful. The lady on reception was wonderful, helping with bus times and taking a good interest in my visit. The slim ginger lady who served up my wonderful homemade pie for dinner was full of craic and character even when rushed of her feet, the young night porter was as friendly as could be, the women serving up breakfast and the cleaner were as cheerful and friendly as could be. The manager’s hands on approach was also great to see. Unfortunately my daughter has now left the area so it’ll be hard to find the excuse for a return visit.

The staff were polite and friendly, the room was beautiful and very clean. 

However, the room was very cold. The receptionist said that the whole hotel was on a timer. But the common areas were lovely and warm but in our room we were under the blanket to keep warm. Also the bath is at a set temperature, but not hot enough. Additionally the breakfast was disappointing, sausages weren't tasty, bacon barely cooked, greasy eggs and no fruit available.  We were disappointed as we have been for family meals previously and enjoyed it.
