About this house rental
Thoughtfully remodeled with comfort and gathering in mind, Shepherd’s Lane comfortably sleeps up to seven guests and offers multiple living spaces where you can spread out, unwind, or come together. From plush beds and cozy couches to a large soaking tub, custom wood details, a working fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and carefully chosen decor, every detail is intended to help you feel right at home.
As inviting as the inside may be, the outdoor spaces are just as special. The deck is a favorite spot for morning coffee as the sun rises or watching the sheep lazily graze in the pasture at sunset. Gather around the large stone fire pit, soak in the private outdoor spa while taking in the unmatched night skies or enjoy an outdoor meal on the spacious patio.
While you may be tempted to spend your entire stay enjoying the home, we encourage you to venture out and discover the history, scenery, and adventures that make this area so special. A few feet away you’ll find a well-maintained park with a walking path leading toward one of the most amazing views and unforgettable sunsets you will ever see. Take a leisurely stroll along Main Street, explore the area’s rich history, and visit the historic Toll House and other local landmarks.
Just a few minutes away, Youghiogheny River Lake offers opportunities to relax on the beach, kayak, explore the water, and learn about the fascinating history of Somerfield, the former town that now lies beneath the lake. Within approximately 15–45 minutes, you’ll find an incredible variety of outdoor adventures, including whitewater rafting, bike rentals and access to the Great Allegheny Passage trail, scenic hiking trails, waterfalls, kayak and boat rentals, lakeside beaches, skiing, and snow tubing.
Whether you visit in the warmth of summer or the quiet beauty of winter, the Laurel Highlands offers something for every season. If you travel with gear, we are also happy to offer ample secure storage space to accommodate everything from bicycles to boats.
Adventure isn’t the only thing this area has to offer. Spend an afternoon browsing local antique shops and small businesses, admire the remarkable architecture of Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, indulge in a spa treatment, or discover the area’s local dining and drink scene. If you’re in the mood for a longer excursion, even more dining, theater, shopping, and entertainment options are within approximately an hour to an hour and a half’s drive.
Whether your ideal getaway involves outdoor adventure, exploring local history, discovering hidden gems, or simply enjoying a quiet weekend away, you’ll find plenty of ways to make your stay your own. Shepherd’s Lane holds a special place in our family’s heart, and it would be our pleasure to share it with you.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
