Avoid until fire safety concerns sorted
Location to Lakes is perfect, and near to Penrith town centre. Cottage has so much potential if managed and cleaned properly.
Serious Fire Safety Issues. Front door locked with no key and hidden by a roller blind. No working fire detectors, no fire blanket or fire extinguisher. No instructions on how to use the heating or kitchen appliances. Finding the lock box at rear of property was hard work and had to contact the client, as first gate you have to enter to property is not clearly marked. 2 cottages with same name. Contact number for booking was for a previous employer. This comment was also made in April 2025. Property in need of a serious deep clean. Cobwebs, dust, pee on the toilet, crisps and hair on floor in bathroom. Food under the living room sofa and sniffed out by my dog. External lights broken or not working and made it hard to find lock box. Path from front street to rear of property not lit up. Fall/slip hazard if dark and icy.

Overall comfortable and lovely stay in the cottage…got potential to be a gorgeous property if it was cleaned. Didn’t rea
Cosy quirky cottage with some original features in. Loved the lay out
Nice touch of a bottle of wine on arrival.
Close to Queens head lovely pub and good food.
Property on a whole is in need of a deep clean. Large cobwebs and dust all around the house. Noticeable stain in one of the bedrooms on the floor which was noted on another review but still not been removed. Kitchen cupboards inside are dirty. Stains on the lower bunk bed pillow cases and sheet on arrival. Lovely cottage , but in need of some TLC and as a deep clean. The back yard looks nothing like on the picture. Overgrown…broken outside light hanging off and cluttered. Shame as it’s a lovely little space to have sat out in. Missing a visitors book to leave a review and maybe in need of manuals/useful numbers in the area/places to eat etc. These are always extra nice touches when staying in cottages. Didn’t matter on this occasion as know the area well.

Good location to visit Pooley bridge otherwise would not stay as it was average at best.
Location to Pooley bridge.
Had to park away from property which was located on a busy road on a bed, which was not made clear in advert. Outside seating was unclean and poor. Kitchen utensils were a little poor including frying pan which stuck whenever you tried to use it.

Not clean, broken furniture and a leaking shower.
Arrival instructions were clear. Accommodation is in a pretty village with a nice pub and there are several walking options close by. Well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils.
In general I would have expected the space to have been cleaned better. On arrival we found some form of foliage/debris on one of the double beds, a hair ball on the bathroom floor, and old contact lenses dried on the kitchen floor. Further, there was a large sticky patch in the children’s bedroom floor that had not been cleaned up.
Some of the furniture also needs replacing. One of the kitchen chairs has a back that comes off and the chair at the desk has only one screw in it, the seat spins around and is dangerous, my daughter almost fell off it. Further, the one lamp in the children’s room is broken, with the glass shade balancing on the fitting rather than screwing in.
However, the most significant issue here is the shower. It is not fitted correctly. It sprays at a joint everywhere. It is clear this is a known problem as a sign by the bath asks guests to keep the shower window in place to prevent leaks. But the problem is bigger than a sign, even with the shower window in place, leaks take place and water runs outside the bath and through the floorboards and into the downstairs. This is going to cause serious damage at some point, with electrical items in the area downstairs where the water leaks. We ended up reducing the showers we had (moved to baths) and permanently put 2 x towels upstairs around the shower to try prevent leakage and 1 x towel downstairs to soak up the significant flow from the ceiling. Damp marks can be seen on the ceiling making me wonder how long this had been a problem.
On top of this, we found the boiler to be insufficient even for a small family of four - we got about 4/5 minutes of hot water before it turned luke warm and then cold.
I raised all of these matters with the owner in a timely manner, who responded each time. Owner advised action would be taken and promised a partial refund but this is yet to happen and I have logged a conflict resolution.

Good location, spacious and comfortable cottage
Host was responsive & helpful
We found it difficult to find the access to the cottage. Initially we were at the wrong house, the garden gate we had to pass through was actually only named with a different two cottages

Spacious, beautiful cottage, very close to a good nearby pub. Great heating, lots of hot water. Lovely bottle of wine for our arrival. Easy to get to Penrith, Keswick, Ullswater. Very clean, good towels and bed linen.
We didn’t receive a message with arrival instructions, we had to chase this. Contacted the number given but this was for a former employee. Had difficulty finding the property when we arrived in the dark, tried to contact host for help, but got no answer. Other than initial hiccup, we loved the property and would definitely return
