We were refused check-in after arrival, and we are currently working on recovering €520 for a fully prepaid booking.
Initial check-in and communication showed serious red flags from the very beginning.
Although the booking was fully prepaid and managed by a large company, the check-in process was unclear, poorly organized, and stressful.
We were instructed to coordinate the key handover directly with a local contact (Rafa), but communication was extremely difficult due to language barriers, lack of written instructions, and last-minute phone coordination.
Instead of receiving a clear and structured check-in procedure in advance, we had to actively chase information, clarify basic details ourselves, and manage the timing while already traveling.
On the day of arrival, Novasol did not respond to my emails or messages in the Booking chat.
We arrived on time, having informed the representative in advance that we would arrive at 16:15, as he had asked about our arrival time.
Despite this, the representative arrived late without any notice, did not answer phone calls while we were waiting at the door, and did not apologize upon arrival. His behavior was dismissive and condescending.
During the meeting, the representative demanded that we open our suitcases and demonstrate their contents, including personal underwear.
I explicitly asked whether he seriously expected us to open our luggage and show personal underwear, and he confirmed that this was exactly what was required.
I informed him that I was recording myself on video to document these unlawful demands. He did not object and repeated the same demands on camera.
The representative then called a Novasol manager, who also confirmed these requirements by phone, presenting them as normal and acceptable, despite their clear violation of personal dignity and privacy.
We pointed out that:
• these requirements were not disclosed anywhere in the booking conditions;
• the only related item mentioned in the listing was that towels and bed linen were a paid optional service, not a mandatory inspection of personal belongings.
