When out for dinner came back r door was open after we had closed all of them, meaning the owner had come back in the apartment after we had left witch seems strange to me

Ripped off for money paid- substandard in cleanliness
The host is a nice gentleman. The basement apt is big and large enough for a family of 4. Bright letting sun in. Kitchen essentials: fridge oven are new. Laundry is available
First all of the below has been discussed with the host prior to our departure. He seems surprised but apologized:
1/ stinky smell at the entrance of the basement apt (could be there were dogs in previous visits I dont know) 2/ cleanliness: apartment hasnt been cleaned in what looks like days if not months; dust every where, what looks like dog hairs on couches; very dirty carpet; washroom so dirty; toilet bowl hasnt been cleaned in days to the point my son didn't want to use and withhold his #2 till next day and went to relieve self at nearby Walmart (he is just 15 and teenagers are not that picky in cleanliness but he was so disgusted) we even had to get some cleaning products and attempt a superficial cleaning to make ourselves comfortable; we had to go ask for more toilet papers it was not available. 3/ kitchen: has little kitchen stuff (no pans incl) 4/ having family pictures in the living room 😳 really? Not our 1st airbnb and never saw before. We didnt want to cancel and search for a new as we travelled from Ottawa with +6hrs with kids (not incl GTA traffic and tired) and with a short stay. As clients who didnt get a proper service we asked for a discount or some $$ back for a substandard and poor service which the host didn't even consider but he was more concerned about a bad review on Booking; to which we replied we ought to do justice to the next guest. Much as he agreed to fix all the issues we told him we shall report as we saw. He claims the cleaning personnel didnt do the needful which we doubt as there was not an inch of a resemblance of an earlier clean up (even the wood floor was dusty we had to sweep with some dirty broom. We were also told Booking didnt advice guests were coming. We were not responsible for that misshap if this is the case and we advised this is something to discuss with Booking, but if your house is up you ought to be ready with minimum preparation. There wasnt. Plain and simple.

Very bad, dont book it, its a nightmare
There was very cold inside i told the old man 👴 to turn the heat on he was very upset 😭 then he Yelled at me for no reason, it was a nightmare i check out right in this morning, i hope that Man die Soon
