The staff were so friendly. And the smell all over the hotel and room was so pleasant

Serab Residencia is a beautiful little oasis. The owners have clearly invested considerable thought and care into creating an intimate and secluded retreat, despite the hotel’s location in a lively and highly touristic area. The elegant décor evokes a distinctly Mediterranean atmosphere, creating a sense of warmth and tranquility throughout the property. The rooms are comfortably proportioned and thoughtfully appointed, providing a pleasant and relaxing environment. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, making every effort to accommodate our requests with genuine care. Breakfast is another strong point, offering a very good balance of quality and generous portions. Overall, the hotel succeeds beautifully in creating a peaceful and refined haven amid the bustle of the surrounding area.
I chose the room with the outdoor spa tub, expecting it to be a jacuzzi or heated spa. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The tub is more accurately described as a small plunge pool, with cold water that cannot be heated. Had this been made clear in advance, I would have opted for a different room category, as I ultimately did not use the tub at all. Unfortunately, the overall condition and cleanliness of the outdoor area did not quite meet the standards we expected. The pool area had a somewhat neglected and abandoned appearance. We appreciate that we were visiting during the off-peak season, but as long as the facilities are in operation and being offered to guests, we feel they should still be properly maintained. The standard of room cleaning also fell short of what we would expect. The room appeared to have been serviced without much attention to detail. The bathrobes left on the chair remained there, the bed cover, which had been left on the floor, was neither folded nor placed back on the bed, and even half of a bitten cookie had been left on the table. These may seem like small details, but together they give the impression that the room had not been thoroughly checked and cleaned. The outdoor terrace was noticeably dirty, and there was a considerable amount of dust and debris accumulated around the plunge pool. Another issue was the room temperature. The flooring became extremely hot, to the point of being quite uncomfortable, and I was woken during the night because of the excessive heat. This significantly affected the comfort of the stay. Finally, the overhead shower is not particularly practical for everyone. A small, removable handheld shower head (douchette) would be a useful addition and would make the bathroom considerably more comfortable and accessible.

Clean, modern.
I’ll start with the positives: the hotel itself is clean, modern, and fairly well-maintained. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor guest services, questionable practices, and unprofessional treatment. For the price point (comparable to a 5-star hotel), I expected much better. Here are the main issues we faced: Check-in: The receptionist refused card payment and insisted on cash unless we left a cash deposit and our passports as a guarantee until the banks reopened on Monday and verify the payment. This was unacceptable and unprofessional. Luckily we had cash so we end up paying the total charges. Facilities: The pool had dead insects, and the electricity kept shutting off at night with a loud cracking sound when it came back, waking us several times. Breakfast: Average and served cold everyday. No varieties or options to choose from. Lighting: If you want to sit by the pool at night, there are no lights unless staff can find someone to switch them on. If that person isn’t available, you sit in complete darkness. This feels more like a cost-saving measure than guest care, which is unreasonable given the premium rates charged. Bathrobe incident: The operations manager held a formal meeting with us about a missing bathrobe (which we had mistakenly left in our car). Beforehand, she sent a staff to check our car in the parking lot without our permission. While she later apologized, the way it was handled felt like a breach of privacy, and the remark she made about our nationality was offensive and discriminatory. A simple room charge at checkout would have been the professional approach without all this drama. Checkout: An unexplained $30 charge was added to our bill. Even after waiting more than 30 minutes, no one could explain it. On top of that, staff once again asked about the bathrobe (even after we had returned it) which became insulting at this stage.
