Misleading listing, unsafe conditions, and unacceptable host response
Our experience at this cabin was extremely disappointing and unsafe.
We booked this property specifically because the listing advertised direct lake access, fishing activities, and showed photos of the lake right in front of the house.
When we arrived, the lake was completely dry — there was literally no water. This was never disclosed before booking, which makes the listing misleading, since the lake access was the main reason we chose this cabin.
The access to the property is extremely dangerous, especially at night:
narrow mountain roads, sharp curves, steep drop-offs, and a driveway so steep that you cannot enter or leave without a 4x4 vehicle if it rains or snows. This was not mentioned anywhere in the listing.
Although the cabin looks nice, the cleanliness was unacceptable:
• Dirty cutlery
• Bed sheets with bad odors
• Mattresses that smelled of urine
The most serious issue was a major safety incident:
While my parents were sleeping in a bunk bed room, the top bunk collapsed and fell onto the lower bed, where my sister was sleeping, causing injuries. This could have been a tragedy, especially since we have a 2-year-old child who could easily have been in that bed.
The hosts only offered $600 as compensation, even though we paid $3,000 for a 6-night stay, which is a very high price compared to other cabins in much better locations. Even worse, we paid the hosts directly, but now they claim the refund must be processed through Booking, creating further delays and complications.
After driving more than 20 hours to reach the property, we asked to check in just three hours early (1:00 pm) because we were traveling with small children, and they refused, forcing us to wait until 4:00 pm with no flexibility or consideration.
When we reported:
• The dry lake
• The dangerous access
• The poor cleanliness
• The bunk bed accident
The hosts did nothing but make excuses and offered no real solution.
