Misleading listing and poor communication
Going home.
These listing photos are misleading. The buildings shown in the photos are not the actual property—we arrived and thought we had the wrong address, as the building for this unit is severely run-down, with rotting stairs/decks, and old beige and mauve paint. The listing uses retouched photos of nearby newer buildings across the street. There is one photo of the correct building, but is deliberately taken from further down the hill and heavily retouched. The unit is also dated, and not newer as is shown in the retouched photos.
The parking lot and walkways were dangerously icy the entire stay, as if the property management company doesn't care. The owner was minimally responsive and took over 30 minutes to respond or not at all. One of the hot tubs had hair and debris in it, and was full of soap suds.
Internet was unusably slow (dial-up level - took an hour to upload a 2MB file - not GB - but MB). The TV took a long time to load. The refrigerator rattled loudly for days and we were told to unplug it despite having perishable food. Several light switches didn’t control anything, so we had to grope around in the dark for lamps. The bathroom had sopping wet and dirty rugs on towel racks instead of clean towels, and the towels were old and worn.
Evolve.com and the unit owner were dismissive of our photo/video evidence. Evolve responds with emails written by AI and directs you to call the cleaning company for any issues. When you finally do get an actual Evolve agent, you have to start your complaint all over again from scratch. They then either have an another different agent respond and take your complaint all over again, or not at all. Evolve's system is designed to wear you down. I had contacted Booking.com to help but they failed to respond other than having an agent call me at 3:45 AM when I was sleeping. I never would have booked this place if accurate photos were shown.
