Great location for Ponds Forge and has 11 beds in 5 rooms

Location was good for Ponds Forge; 11 beds in 5 bedrooms (we were a party of 8 people); the house didn't have enough plates or forks for 8 people but they responded quickly and delivered extra of both the following day; there were 2 fridge freezers, and 3 toilets.

There wasn't a dining table with enough chairs for 8 people; a toilet seat was loose; the upstairs bathroom door didn't lock; a smoke alarm beeped so needed a new battery; there wasn't enough plates or forks; the standard of cleaning and general maintenance. Having said all that, I asked our group if they would stay here again next year and they said yes. All the issues were minor and we managed okay.

Good location and comfy beds

There were 8 of us in the house. There was plenty of space in the living room to sit and chat. We had to move tables around so we could eat together. There was plenty of cutlery and plates and pots and pans to cook for 8 people. The beds were comfortable and the blackout blinds work, so we had a good night sleep. There were 2 bathrooms and a further toilet. The drive had room for 2 cars. Good location 8 mins from Ponds Forge. Lidl and co-op nearby.

We couldn't get the TV in room 4 to work; there was no sharp knives, other than a bread knife; there was no chopping board; the lock on the upstairs bathroom was broken. The house was generally chilly (we stayed last weekend of October). There thermostat was set to15 degs, but you can turn it up to 18degs, for example, but it changes back to 15 after a while, possibly remotely controlled. The house could do with some maintenance.

Large house, good location but very run down

Close to city centre, large and roomy

Everything was worn out and tired. It was even difficult to unlock the door with the key. The rooms each had their own key in a lock boxes in the living room and it reminded me a HMO even though you had the whole house. I had to ask for the codes for the other lock boxes to check the rooms (I was not staying in a house where me and my daughter could not see what was in the locked rooms) as they didn’t provide the codes for all room initially. The bath panels were hanging off, cracked tiles and the window in bedroom two is fastened on using some makeshift hinge, it nearly fell on me when I popped it. Overall, although the location is good for the city centre, unless this place is modernised I would not stay again as even the garden gates were held back by some kind of plastic strapping and so overrun I was nettled on the arm getting out the car on the drive.
