A very disappointing conclusion to our stay which has left a bad taste…..

Apartment was clean, tidy, well equipped with ample places to park around the site plus a decent restaurant a stones throw away.

On the last night of our stay at around 10pm (we stayed 3 nights), the door to the bedroom my wife was using came off of two of the three hinges and nearly hit her in the face. I managed to get the middle hinge reconnected so that the door was “safe” until I could inform reception staff before we left around 10am the following morning. On my examination, as an experienced “DIYer” the top and middle hinges were loose in the door frame BUT I am no expert. I informed the reception staff of the incident when I checked out and gave them the part of the top hinge I had been unable to replace. Later that evening, I decided to complain formally as, in my opinion, this was a safety issue. The replies I have received basically took the position that the door was “misused” - I never received any reply to my question of how my 69 year old wife had misused a door. I am still at a loss as to what they were implying. Other points they threw back at me included I had not said anything on any of the other days I was using the apartment (it happened suddenly on the last night), I did not contact the emergency contact number, I did not contact reception when it opened at 6.30am (both true but why would I when I had made the door safe and I was leaving the next morning?), and that they did not charge me for repairs as I only stayed for 3 nights….Pardon me? I am afraid I was left with the feeling that the owners were adamant my wife was totally to blame for this, perhaps felt we were trying to demand a refund (we were not), and took their stance that this was totally our fault as a result. It soured the whole experience for both of us. Would I stay there again? I am afraid, based on our experience and having never had such an issue in all our years travelling, absolutely not.
