Nice, bright apartment in a great location, let down by cleanliness issues and an unexpected mandatory fee at check-in.

Two points. First, the pre-arrival check-in link required filling in personal details and ended with a mandatory paid insurance step — this was not mentioned at the time of booking and felt like a charge we had no real option to decline. Any compulsory fee should be stated upfront in the listing price. Second, cleanliness fell short: the bathroom was not properly cleaned, and the towels were not fresh — one of them contained a clump of hair.

Poor customer service overshadowed good location

The apartment is in a good location, within easy walking distance of Ghent's main sights and attractions. It was also clean and generally well presented.

Unfortunately, there were several issues that meant we wouldn't stay here again. The apartment is on a busy street and was quite noisy from outside, particularly at night. On top of that, the sofa bed is incredibly creaky and difficult to sleep on, and the floorboards throughout the apartment creak so loudly that it's almost impossible to move around without waking everyone else. Because there is no separation between the bedroom and living area, this accommodation is really only suitable for a couple sharing the bedroom. It isn't suitable for families or anyone planning to use the sofa bed, as there is very little privacy and any movement disturbs everyone else. The tap in the only bathroom also didn't work for the first night of our stay. We reported it immediately at around 3:30pm on the day we checked in, but it wasn't resolved until we received a message after 1pm the following day to say it had been fixed. This meant we were without a functioning bathroom tap for around a third of our stay. We were also disappointed by the company's damage policy. Guests are required to either pay a non-refundable €24 fee or allow a €250 security deposit to be held before the stay. As frequent travellers (Booking.com Level 3), we've stayed in many properties and have never encountered this arrangement before. It created a poor first impression, and we reluctantly paid the €24 rather than allow a €250 hold on our account. Given the inconvenience of the broken bathroom tap, we felt it would have been beyond a reasonable gesture to refund the €24 fee, but despite requesting this, the company refused. The check-out experience also left a bad impression. We received multiple reminders that check-out was strictly at 11am, along with a list of tasks that had to be completed before leaving, including putting the dishwasher on, ensuring all rubbish was in the bins and closing all the windows.

Not exactly great value for money !

+Great location if u wanna explore the city on foot +The apartment is very spacious

-Elevator stinks -No extra toilet paper was provided upon request -Broken window, a big gap in the bathroom window, its unacceptable that this hasn't been fixed. This makes the whole apartment very cold. I stayed here in March, when it was relatively warm, but good luck staying here in the winter. Also expect to be freezing when getting out of the shower. Also there is a bar right under the window, so the noise becomes more unbearable with the broken window. -You will be given several tasks during the check-out to help the cleaner out
