The Coat and Bear - A Heartwood Inn

I got stranded in Newbury overnight and booked this inn late on Friday night as it was the only dog friendly hotel left. They were absolutely amazing. Brought my dog a doggy pack with some food and a tennis ball straight away and offered a dog bed too. The room was beautiful (8) especially the bathroom. They had live music in the bar which was lovely. Best English breakfast I have ever had. The staff at breakfast were absolutely amazing, super polite and smiley.

Got woken up before 6am by a couple of guys loading a van outside my window twice for a considerable amount of time but that isn’t the hotel’s fault.

Lovely hotel, decorated beautifully.

Beautiful pub and hotel rooms. The beds are so comfortable with beautiful linen, accompanied by coffee and tea facilities and treats when you arrive in the room. Exceptionally clean bathroom with a wonderful shower. Delicious breakfast and excellent vakue food in the pub for dinner too. Highly recommend.

Convenient location. Reasonable menu choices and availability of choices.

The room was close to car park and lots of people coming and going in the corridor. There was not enough parking spaces in the car park. When I had booked previously I paid £30 for 2 breakfast but this time paid £46 for a smaller breakfast that was cold. The smoke alarm flashed all night keeping me awake.
