Location! Location! Location! Gerrish Island is private and quiet.

This apartment is on a private road on Chauncey Creek, with access to a kayak launch that is steps away. Walk, run, or bike --- or safely enjoy a stroll to the beach on our private, low-traffic road. Gerrish Island is a wildlife lover's and birder's paradise, abutting Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

An intricate network of tidal waterways wind their way through Kittery Point, ideally explored by kayak and paddle board! From the kayak access steps away from the apartment, paddle Chauncey Creek, Spruce Creek, and the Piscataqua River's Back Channel.

*Walk 15 minutes from the apartment to private Crescent Beach, with great views of the Isles of Shoals. From Crescent Beach, walk along a bluff to adjoining Seapoint Beach. Walk just down the road from Seapoint Beach to the Cutts Island Trail to enjoy a scenic walk through the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

*Bike 10 minutes from the apartment or drive 4 minutes to the other side of the island to Fort Foster. Gerrish Island's Fort Foster is an amazing place to explore! The 88-acre site has three beaches, a trail system that connects the beaches together, a pier, picnic tables, charcoal grills, the remains of the historic fort -- and has bathrooms! Don't miss walking the well maintained gravel paths along the ocean, lined with sea roses, overlooking Portsmouth Harbor, Whaleback lighthouse, and the Isles of Shoals, and scattered with benches all along the way to sit and take in the views.

*Drive 5 minutes from the apartment to Kittery Point's scenic waterfront dining at Bistro 1828/Frisbee's Wharf at Pepperrell Cove and summer favorite Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier.

*Drive 10 minutes from the apartment to Kittery Foreside (a.k.a. "downtown") for an eclectic mix of some of the Seascoast area's most popular restaurants: hipster fave The Black Birch, and craft cocktail master The Wallingford Dram -- do not miss Lil's Cafe with its exquisite homemade crullers. Maine Meat, a sustainably farmed, locally sourced whole animal butcher and restaurant also carrying craft beers and European wines. Just around the corner, visit Kittery Foreside's "Gourmet Alley": Beach Pea Baking Co. for handcrafted sandwiches, fine cakes, and artisan breads; Terracotta Pasta Co. for all natural fresh pastas, ravioli and sauces; Golden Harvest for fresh veggies, wine, and cheese; and Carl's Meat Market, a Kittery institution for over 75 years specializing in fine hand cut meats, deli meat and cheese, and southern Maine's best craft beer selection.

"Featured Lifestyle: Kittery and Kittery Point, Maine'"

"I lived here years ago, while commuting to Boston...it is still one of my favorite Seacoast communities! The quaint downtown area has an authentic vibe (and fabulous restaurants)…people love that it is so close to Portsmouth, you can walk safely back and forth. Nearby, ‘Gourmet Alley’ has small shops offering provisions to suit the most discriminating chefs and palates! And best of all, there’s Kittery Point, with its stunning waterfront properties, idyllic coves and sandy beaches…cross the Chauncey Creek bridge to unspoiled Gerrish Island and you’ll feel like you’ve arrived in Mid-Coast Maine. The setting is dreamy...peaceful and beautiful. If you love nature and enjoy spending time on the water, Kittery is a wonderful place to live!" --Lynne Joyce

Our stay on Kittery Point was absolutely wonderful. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared, and our hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Laurie offered great recommendations for local restaurants and activities, and she was always quick to respond whenever I had a question. The amenities exceeded any place we’ve stayed before—everything was truly top‑notch. From the well‑stocked fridge to all the extra touches provided, it made our visit feel effortless. When we stopped at the store, there was hardly anything we needed because so much had already been taken care of.It was an exceptional experience from start to finish.

Laurie and Chris are perfect hosts and have a lovely apartment. They are very friendly, excellent communicators, and seemed to anticipate any question that we had and provided thoughtful, detailed answers and suggestions for activities. They take immaculate care of their property. The apartment is newly and beautifully renovated, has top of the line appliances, furniture, linens/towels, and kitchenware. The quiet air conditioner and bedroom fans kept us cool and comfortable during the few days of unprecedented heat. The location is ideal - walking distance to the creek with easy access for kayaking, Tower Beach, and Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier. One of the highlights was the screened porch with very comfortable furniture - an ideal spot for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails while listening to the birds and watching for the deer that wander through the yard. We (three adults stayed in the apartment, with our adult children visiting during the day) look forward to returning next year!

All of the previous reviews are accurate. This apartment is spacious, well maintained, immaculate with high end products. The furniture and bed is comfortable too. We didn't need to buy any kitchen supplies as already supplied. Laurie, the host was so nice and accommodating. We even saw a deer a few times which made our day. If you are looking for a quiet, centrally located respite, this is your place to go. Beaches, restaurants and parks near by. All I can say is pack your bags and enjoy!

Great place to stay! Spacious, clean, well stocked. Highly recommend this rental. The owners are so nice. The neighborhood is quiet and close to town. Definitely one of my favorite places we have ever rented.
