Campertogno is one of the oldest communities in Valsesia. The village lies below the confluence of the Artogna stream and the Sesia River. On the orographic right bank of the Sesia, two side valleys open up: the Vallone and the larger Artogna Valley, which winds its way for about 15 km through the mountains. Campertogno comprises ten hamlets and eleven alpine pastures. The village preserves a variety of traditions, as well as notable sites of historical and artistic interest: the majestic complex of the parish church of San Giacomo Maggiore with its Museum of Sacred Art, the multipurpose theater dating back to 1900, and the oratories scattered throughout the area. Campertogno offers opportunities to enjoy various outdoor activities. Hiking is very popular: the most beloved trails include the Sentiero dell’Arte, which leads to Alpe Cangello, and the trail leading to the summit of Sivella (2,523 m). A section of a bike trail suitable for mountain biking runs through the village. Water sports are also available, including a canyoning school, as well as rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and hydrospeed. The range of sports activities is rounded out by a fully equipped playground, a tennis court, and a soccer field, as well as horseback riding and donkey rides. There are traditional restaurants and a pizzeria, as well as shops selling local wines, cheeses, cured meats, and pastries.
