Water Street Stay

Great location

Strong unpleasant smell in hall way, only one working fob, and Staycay declined to provide a 2nd working fob. Unexpected parking fee, lack of crockery & cutlery, all blinds broken, beds small, unsure if they were even a double. Stains on mattresses, no mattress protectors, pillows needed replacing. We had to loan a frying pan & utensils from family. Fridge freezing food, despite altering temp, freezer needed defrosting, unable to use until Staycay sent maintenance to defrost it. Ironing board broken, vacuum broken. Wardrobe in main bedroom broken & glued back together. Power in shower poor. Wall heater fell off the wall & caused physical injury, heater had clearly been refitted numerous times due to the number of holes in the plasterboard. My partner spent over an hour liaising with a Staycay manager to be told "move out if you're not happy" which we did. Manager advised us there's never been an issue in the time he's managed the property" with the heather. despite the fact a large picture frame had been placed on top on the heater to appear to try & hide the fact it was hanging off the wall. Staycay eventually offered us 1 bottle of wine & some chocolates, which then increased to 3 bottles of wine, we declined. We did request compensation and advised we would leave an accurate review, however Staycay stated this was "a blackmail request & would not be providing compensation". I advised I would always give an honest review and would have stated that it was amended or discount given. We relocated after a week. Booking.com did reimburse the reminder of our stay however still had to give 24hr notice, which allowed us to find a new property, however they declined to refund any of the stay we'd already had despite us advising of the issues from early on. On a positive, they did replace the ironing board, defrost the freezer & a maintenance guy came round to fix the heater & one of the blinds.

Self contained and location

The lift wasn’t working and we didn’t find this out until the day before we were due to check in. Cleaning wasn’t the best. A vape was left on the kitchen bench. There was only one towel despite the booking being for 2 people. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the doona had been put on the wrong way.
