About this country house rental
Located less than a mile from the Green River, this charming 1834 updated farmhouse sits on 1 acre of land facing the picturesque hills of neighboring Leyden. The property boasts incredible outdoor space with a large furnished patio and a firepit for outdoor dining, star gazing, watching the neighborhood cows, or relaxing to enjoy a cup of coffee while the sun rises over the adjacent hills. A furnished back deck completes the property’s plentiful outdoor space with comfortable chairs, a loveseat, and a grill. The indoor space includes 3 bedrooms: a master bedroom and bathroom, and two additional bedrooms, one with twin beds and another with a queen size bed. The main floor features original beams and wide plank pine flooring with an open concept, two living room areas, and a sitting area. The farmhouse kitchen includes all the necessities (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and oven/stovetop) and is equipped with everything needed to prepare meals. A dining room table that seats 6 also sits adjacent to the open kitchen area. The downstairs includes one bedroom and a half bathroom, while the upstairs features two full bathrooms and two bedrooms. Minisplits throughout the house keep it cool in the summer months and warm in the winter. The property sits among an outdoor oasis with easy access to hiking, mountain biking, gravel and road biking, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and more. It is a 15-minute ride from Greenfield, 15 minutes from picturesque Shelburne Falls, 20 minutes from historic Old Deerfield, and 20 minutes from Brattleboro, VT. Colrain and the surrounding hilltowns feature local artists, brewers, orchards, farm markets, and much more. Skiers are just a 25-minute drive to Berkshire East, a 45-minute drive to Mount Snow, VT, and a 70-minute drive to Stratton, VT. The house is just a short drive to local hospitals, and many of the area independent schools (Deerfield Academy, Northfield Mount Hermon, Eaglebrook School, Bement School) and not far from the Five College area (Amherst College, University of Massachusetts, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke, and Smith College). Greenfield Community College is also located less than 15 minutes from the property.
