The location of the hotel meant everything within the town was walkable. It's a traditional old pub with hotel accommodation upstairs, this is all part of its Devonshire charm. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and breakfast was as good as we've ever enjoyed elsewhere. The double room, with ensuite, was a little small but we've stayed in smaller, however it was comfortable and clean and had everything you needed. Biscuits, coffee machine and bottled water was a nice welcoming touch.
There is no parking at the hotel however this is offset by a council run small multi storey car park next door (Brook Street) where cars can be left overnight (long stay section upper levels). It is also locked at a certain time overnight (you need to check the times) which may be a help or a hindrance. Nonetheless it cost (£5.40 - Oct 26) for all day and all night until 8am (10am Sunday) which is good value. Machines only accept cash or use the payment app which was easy.

It is in a great position to the town easy flat walking and you are at the pannier market in a few minutes. IThe food was good pub food and a good variety and a good selection of affordable wines . Breakfast was very good simple but plenty of it and a very good choice . The room was a good size , very clean, great coffee machine, comfortable bed and amazing power shower in a bright clean ensuite.. Nothing to dislike and great value for money .Very nice and helpful staff , nothing to fault.
Nothing we were impressed, although no car park, there is a paying one very close by ..

Very good breakfast ,great facilities in our room and highly recommend eating their for an evening meal. Thanks for a great4day stay.

Although breakfast was advertised as being available, and there was a menu in the room, we were told there wasn't any breakfast.
Similarly there was supposed to be parking, but there wasn't any at the hotel.
Although some people were eating when we arrived, we were told that they couldn't provide any food for us.
There appeared to be a general indifference to our custom.
