About this apartment rental
The Bridge—between New Zealand & the Ore Mountains.
A unique vacation home that brings New Zealand and the Ore Mountains together.
Welcome to your first step in discovering New Zealand in the Ore Mountains. As a longtime New Zealand expert, I’ve discovered the parallels between my homeland, the Ore Mountains, and Aotearoa / New Zealand. We’d love to introduce you to the extraordinary and mystical region surrounding the Ore Mountains.
The luxurious apartment measures 72 square meters. It features 1 bedroom, 1 reading room with sleeping accommodations (1.40-meter-wide bed), 1 living room, 1 open-concept kitchen, and 1 modern bathroom with a shower. A spacious balcony is also available.
The living room features 1 dining table for 4 people, 1 HD Smart TV (55 inches) with pre-installed apps for Netflix, Amazon, and Disney (accessible with your own login credentials), and 1 Marshall speaker. An electric fireplace adds to the cozy atmosphere.
The kitchen is fully equipped. In addition to the oven and dishwasher, there is 1 electric kettle, 1 toaster, 1 microwave, and 1 Senseo pod coffee maker (8 pods are provided per stay).
A minibar is provided inside the wine barrel
Each bottle of wine is available for €10.00, and each beer, soda, and snack for €3.00. Please pay the amount in cash on your own into the small “treasure chest of trust.”
The theme of the apartment is a bridge of small parallels that I was able to discover between the Ore Mountains and New Zealand.
So, the hearts of all Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fans (the epitome of New Zealand) will beat a little faster when they find themselves in the reading room in a rocking chair or on the “reading lawn” with a book by J.R.R. Tolkien. (Books and games can, of course, be used inside the apartment as well). Various small accessories, some brought directly from New Zealand, make the apartment something truly special. Nevertheless, we place great importance on our connection to the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge).
Immerse yourself in this mystical region, which has remained unchanged for decades along the mountain ridge—and especially on the nearby Czech side—and has thus retained its original, untamed character.
Location/Activities:
Whether in winter on skis, in summer by bike, e-bike, or on a hike, exploring this region is an extraordinary experience. And the history (see the book “Irrlichter” in the reading room) adds an extra layer of fascination.
Relax in one of Europe’s most beautiful and largest sauna complexes (just a few minutes away by car
), take advantage of direct access to the Kammloipe cross-country ski trail in winter, and enjoy the tranquility at Germany’s highest drinking water reservoir—or the “Fjords of the Ore Mountains” (Eibenstock Reservoir). Experience alpine skiing at the family-friendly lifts in Carlsfeld, Eibenstock, and Johanngeorgenstadt (just a few minutes by car), or take day trips to Fichtelberg, Keilberg, or Oberwiesenthal, Germany’s highest-altitude town. Hidden “lost places” or guided tours through mines, the German space exhibition in the birthplace (neighboring town) of Sigmund Jähn, a brand-new water park, downhill trails for mountain bikers, and much more. We can promise one thing: you’ll never be bored here!
We look forward to your visit 😍
Yours, Ronny & Nadja
