Nice house but HORRIBLE experience with the owner and possible fraud!

The house is nice and looks like in the pictures, location is out of Bucharest in a remote village so it is pretty quiet with not much around.

Regarding the host, we had the worst experience we ever came across with a rental home and this is speaking from experience of over 100 rentals over 15 years. There is a "hidden" deposit of 100 Euros that needs to be paid in cash or Paypal/bank transfer, it only shows up on the booking confirmation which is a little sneaky but ok. On the day we checked out, we caused some damage to one of the sinks. It was a mistake and we let the owner know about it immediately, apologized profusely and immediately offered to pay the cost to fix or replace the sink. The owner insisted that he can't give us a price in advance and kept asking for more and more money as a "deposit" and promised to return the change immediately. We were trying to leave to catch a flight and the owner pressured us into leaving him $400 in cash for the sink and promised he would send a receipt for the cost and refund the rest of the money. After patiently waiting for a couple weeks and not hearing anything from the owner, we sent the owner a message asking for an update. The owner wrote back saying that there were all kind of damages and that we left the apartment dirty and therefore he won't give us back a penny and in fact we "owe" him another $300. When we pressed him to know what damages there were besides for the sink, he only came up with a clogged toilet. He also insisted that the regular cleaning fee that is part of the cost of the apartment only covers "regular" cleaning but that we left the house especially dirty so he needed to pay for "Urgent additional cleaning" We once again asked for examples of this and he sent pictures of some leftover food that we left on the table and some tissues and towels left on the floor, that's it. It is expected to need to do some cleanup after a family with 4 kids stays in your house for 5 days.

Incredible villa

Everything was exceptional! Villa was spotless & stunning. Loved that robes were provided Will 1000% be returning!

Only suggestion I would make is to pop a few bottles of water in the fridge & some take away menus as we struggled to find anywhere that would deliver there. But it wasn't a massive need as we only had 1 night

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, mostly due to the host’s behavior. From the very beginning, he was rude and completely unprofessional. He monitored us constantly through surveillance cameras in an intrusive and uncomfortable way. He was also pushy and aggressive about a deposit that was never clearly communicated upfront, and then he refused to return it—even though we caused no damage whatsoever. He refused to hire a cleaning service and forced us to do all the cleaning ourselves, which was never clearly stated in advance. Communication with him was stressful: constant calls and messages in an aggressive tone. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant stay or even a basic level of respect from the host. Most likely, he’ll respond to this review with some passive-aggressive lie, as he usually does.
